On-Vehicle Inspection [03/2024 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:
  2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL (for HEV Model) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

  4. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  5. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the rear disc brake caliper assembly from hanging by the rear flexible hose.

  6. REMOVE REAR DISC 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  7. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS 
    1. Using a dial indicator with magnetic base, check for looseness near the center of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      Maximum looseness

      0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

      NOTE:
      • Ensure that the dial indicator is set perpendicular to the measurement surface.
      • Keep the magnet of the dial indicator away from the rear skid control sensor.

      HINT: 

      If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

  8. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT 
    1. Using a dial indicator with magnetic base, check for runout on the surface of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      Maximum runout

      0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

      NOTE:
      • Ensure that the dial indicator is set perpendicular to the measurement surface.
      • Keep the magnet of the dial indicator away from the rear skid control sensor.

      HINT: 

      If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

  9. INSTALL REAR DISC 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  10. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 200 N.m (2039 kgf/cm, 148 ft.lbf) 

  11. CONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  12. INSTALL REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [03/2024 - ]

  13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL (for HEV Model) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  14. INITIALIZATION AFTER RECONNECTING AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL (for HEV Model) 

    HINT: 

    When disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary battery, there is an automatic learning function that completes learning when the respective system is used.
