Removal [12/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2021 - ]

    NOTE:

    After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [12/2021 - ]
  2. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - ]

  3. REMOVE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH (except 5-Passenger) 
    WARNING:
    • When storing the curtain shield airbag assembly LH, keep the airbag deployment side (*a) facing upward.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      *a Turns off - -
      1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
      2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
        WARNING:
        • Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
        • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      1. Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors.
        NOTE:

        When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

        HINT: 

        Refer to How to Connect or Disconnect Airbag Connector: Refer to HOW TO CONNECT OR DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR [12/2021 - ]

      2. Remove the 13 bolts.
      3. Detach the claw, hook and clip to remove the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.
        NOTE:
        • When removing the curtain shield airbag assembly LH, make sure not to peel or tear the tape attached to it.
        • When removing the curtain shield airbag assembly LH, make sure not to cause deformation to its resin case.

        HINT: 

        A clip is not necessarily used as reassembly is no longer necessary once the clip is damaged during removal and installation of the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.

  4. REMOVE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH (for 5-Passenger) 
    WARNING:
    • When storing the curtain shield airbag assembly LH, keep the airbag deployment side (*a) facing upward.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

        NOTE:

      2. Remove the 9 bolts.
      3. Detach the claw and hook to remove the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.
        NOTE:
        • When removing the curtain shield airbag assembly LH, make sure not to peel or tear the tape attached to it.
        • When removing the curtain shield airbag assembly LH, make sure not to cause deformation to its resin case.
