DTC P3175-11: Oil Pump Motor Temperature Sensor Circuit Short to Ground [11/2021 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    5. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    6. Turn the power switch off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (OPM TEMPERATURE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / OPM Temperature.
    4. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      215°C (419°F) (short to GND) A
      Approximately equal to the actual temperature B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [11/2021 - 10/2023]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the A106 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A106-46 (TOPM) or A106-45 (ETOP) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A106-46 (TOPM) - A106-45 (ETOP) 20°C (68°F) 11.94 to 12.22 kΩ
      A106-46 (TOPM) - A106-45 (ETOP) 40°C (104°F) 5.75 to 5.92 kΩ
      A106-46 (TOPM) - A106-45 (ETOP) 80°C (176°F) 1.63 to 1.71 kΩ

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)
    3. Reconnect the A106 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY (OIL PUMP MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the D41 oil pump motor temperature sensor connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D41-1 (OMT) - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      *1 Oil Pump Motor Temperature Sensor
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D41-1 (OMT) - D41-2 (OMTG) 20°C (68°F) 11.94 to 12.22 kΩ
      D41-1 (OMT) - D41-2 (OMTG) 40°C (104°F) 5.75 to 5.92 kΩ
      D41-1 (OMT) - D41-2 (OMTG) 80°C (176°F) 1.63 to 1.71 kΩ
    4. Reconnect the D41 oil pump motor temperature sensor connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023]
