DTC P2530-12: IG2 Signal Circuit Short to Auxiliary Battery [11/2021 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the power switch off and turn on the high beam headlights for 30 seconds. This will remove the surface charge from the auxiliary battery.
    2. Turn the high beam headlights off.
    3. Measure the auxiliary battery voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Positive (+) auxiliary battery terminal - Negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal
      • 20°C (68°F)
      • Power switch off
      		 11.0 V or more

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the power switch off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG) and wait for 15 seconds or more.
    2. Turn the power switch off and wait for 2 minutes or more.
    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    6. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      P2530-12 is output. A
      P2530-12 is not output. B
    7. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [11/2021 - 10/2023] 

    Result: 

    A

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      U0110-87, U0129-87, U0140-87, U0151-87, U0164-87 or U1170-87 is also output. A
      U0110-87, U0129-87, U0140-87, U0151-87, U0164-87 or U1170-87 is not output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] 

    Result:

  5. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the G166 and A106 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connectors.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G166-26 (IG2) - A106-1 (E01) Power switch off Below 9 V
    3. Reconnect the G166 and A106 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connectors.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] 

    Result: 

    NG

  6. CHARGE OR REPLACE AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. Charge or replace the auxiliary battery.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

  7. INSPECT PASSENGER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (IG2 P RELAY) 
    1. Disconnect the 4F and 4L passenger side junction block assembly connectors.

      *1 Passenger Side Junction Block Assembly - -
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4F-20 - 4L-1 Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Reconnect the 4F and 4L passenger side junction block assembly connectors.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE PASSENGER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (IG2 P RELAY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - PASSENGER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G166 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)
    2. Remove the 4F passenger side junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G166-26 (IG2) - Body ground Power switch off 1 V or less
    4. Install the 4F passenger side junction block assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the G166 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    1. Check for intermittent problems.

      Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [11/2021 - 10/2023]

      1. Check the connection and terminal contact pressure of the connectors and wire harnesses between the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly and the passenger side junction block assembly.
      2. When the power switch is on (READY), jiggle the connectors and wire harnesses between the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly and the passenger side junction block assembly.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
