Installation [03/2017 - 05/2023]: Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2024 Lexus LC 500, 2023 Lexus LC 500, 2022 Lexus LC 500, 2021 Lexus LC 500, and 2020 Lexus LC 500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSTALL OIL COOLER BRACKET 
    1. Install the oil cooler bracket with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 6.0 N.m (61 kgf/cm, 53 in.lbf)

  2. INSTALL OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the oil cooler assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 6.0 N.m (61 kgf/cm, 53 in.lbf)

  3. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Install the wire harness clamp bracket with the nut.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  4. CONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Attach the 2 clamps and connect the wire harness.

  5. CONNECT RADIATOR HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the radiator hose sub-assembly to the oil cooler assembly, and slide the hose clip to secure the hose.

      *a 2.0 to 5.0 mm (0.0787 to 0.197 in.)
      *b Paint Mark
      *c Permissible range for paint mark position
      *d Outside permissible range for paint mark position
      *e Clamp Range 120°
      *f Front of vehicle
      *g Left side of vehicle
      NOTE:
      • The hose clip claw position is within the range shown in the illustration.
      • Do not deform the oil cooler assembly.
      • Install the radiator hose sub-assembly so that its paint marks are within the allowable range (3 paint lines) of the paint marks of the oil cooler assembly.
      • Water or washer fluid can be used to assist with inserting the hose, however when using liquid other than water, dilute it to 50% concentration or less before use.
      • When installing the radiator hose sub-assembly, do not twist the radiator hose sub-assembly
  6. INSTALL NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE 
    1. Install the No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose to the No. 1 oil cooler outlet tube and oil cooler assembly, and slide the 2 hose clips to secure the hose.

      *a 2.0 to 7.0 mm (0.0787 to 0.276 in.)
      *b Paint Mark
      NOTE:
      • Do not deform the oil cooler assembly.
      • When connecting the hose, align with the colors and positions of the paint mark before connecting.
      • When installing the No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose, do not twist the No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose.
  7. INSTALL NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET HOSE

      Install the No. 1 oil cooler inlet hose to the radiator assembly and No. 1 oil cooler inlet tube, and slide the 2 hose clips to secure the hose.

      NOTE:
      • When connecting the hose, align with the colors and positions of the paint mark before connecting.
      • When installing the No. 1 oil cooler inlet hose, do not twist the No. 1 oil cooler inlet hose.
  8. CONNECT NO. 3 RADIATOR HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26

  9. INSTALL WATER BY-PASS HOSE 
    1. Install the water by-pass hose to the oil cooler assembly and No. 3 radiator hose, and slide the 2 hose clips to secure the hose.

      *a 2.0 to 5.0 mm (0.0787 to 0.197 in.)

      NOTE:

  10. INSTALL NO. 4 TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER HOSE 
    1. Install the No. 4 transmission oil cooler hose to the radiator assembly and oil cooler assembly, and slide the 2 hose clips to secure the hose.

      *a 2.0 to 7.0 mm (0.0787 to 0.276 in.)
      *b Paint Mark
      NOTE:
      • Do not deform the oil cooler assembly.
      • When connecting the hose, align with the colors and positions of the paint mark before connecting.
      • When installing the No. 4 transmission oil cooler hose, do not twist the No. 4 transmission oil cooler hose.
    2. Attach the clamp and connect the No. 4 transmission oil cooler hose to the water by-pass hose.
  11. INSTALL RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28

  12. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23

  13. INSTALL AIR CLEANER WITH ELEMENT ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 96 [03/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 96 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  14. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  15. INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSS MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  16. ADD ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  17. INSTALL LOWER RADIATOR AIR DEFLECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  18. INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT TO FRAME SEAL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  19. INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT TO FRAME SEAL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  20. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 138 [03/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 138 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  21. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID 

    See step  3 [03/2017 - 04/2020], or see step  6 [04/2020 - ]

  22. ADJUST AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID 

    See step  4 [03/2017 - 04/2020], or see step  4 [04/2020 - ]

  23. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  24. INSTALL STRUT BAR BRACKET SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 132 [03/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 132 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  25. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 133 [03/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 133 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  26. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 134 [03/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 134 [06/2019 - 05/2023]

  27. AFTER FILLING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 

    See step  5 [03/2017 - 04/2020], or see step  6 [04/2020 - ]

  28. ATF THERMAL DEGRADATION ESTIMATE RESET 
    NOTE:

    Approximately 50% or more of the ATF has been replaced during a repair of the transmission or a similar operation.
