Removal [05/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    NOTE:

    After the engine switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [05/2023 - ]

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    WARNING:
    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

  4. REMOVE CONSOLE PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  5. REMOVE RADIO REMOTE TUNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  6. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  7. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  8. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE BOX 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  9. REMOVE BOX PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR NO. 2 OPENING TRIM COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  13. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  14. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  15. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

  16. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    Deployment Side
    • When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:
      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts.

      *a Wire Harness Clamp
    4. Detach the hooks and remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
    5. Detach the wire harness clamp.
    6. Detach the claws to disconnect the DLC3.
    7. Tilt the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly toward the seat and support it with one hand.

      *a Lock Button
      Release in this Direction
      Protective Tape
    8. Using a screwdriver, release the lock button and disconnect the airbag connector.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
