Reassembly [03/2017 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2024 Lexus LC 500, 2023 Lexus LC 500, 2022 Lexus LC 500, 2021 Lexus LC 500, and 2020 Lexus LC 500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSTALL REAR SPOILER DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY (Available sa Supply Part) 
  2. INSTALL REAR SPOILER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a T25 "TORX" socket wrench, install the rear spoiler motor assembly with the 3 "TORX" screws on the rear spoiler motor bracket.

      Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf/cm, 48 in.lbf) 

    2. Install the spindle assembly with the 4 screws.

      Torque: 6.5 N.m (66 kgf/cm, 58 in.lbf) 

  3. INSTALL REAR SPOILER DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Apply body grease S to the entire circumference of the rod as shown in the illustration.

      *a Boot

      Body Grease S
    2. Insert the resr spoiler drive gear sub-assembly into the guide to the rear spoiler insert as shown in the illustration.

      Install in this Direction (1)
      Install in this Direction (2)
    3. Install the rear spoiler drive gear sub-assembly with 4 new bolts.

      Torque: 6.7 N.m (68 kgf/cm, 59 in.lbf) 

  4. INSTALL REAR SPOILER INSERT 
  5. INSTALL TOP COVER LOCK CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Insert the guide.

      Install in this Direction
    2. Install the top cover lock control link sub-assembly LH with 2 new bolts.

      Torque: 6.7 N.m (68 kgf/cm, 59 in.lbf) 

  6. INSTALL TOP COVER LOCK CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  7. INSTALL CONNECTOR WIRE 
    1. Connect the connector and install the connector wire.

    2. Attach the clamp.
  8. INSTALL REAR SPOILER COVER 

    HINT: 

    When installing the rear spoiler cover, heat the rear spoiler cover and rear spoiler insert using a heat light.

    Rear Spoiler Insert 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
    Rear Spoiler Cover
    WARNING:
    • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts.
    • Touching the heat light may result in burns.
    • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

    NOTE:

    Do not heat the rear spoiler cover and rear spoiler insert excessively.

    1. When reusing the rear spoiler insert:
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear spoiler insert surface.
      2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear spoiler insert.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
        NOTE:
        • Installing the rear spoiler cover with some double-sided tape remaining may cause poor adhesion. Perform this procedure until the tape is sufficiently removed.
        • Make sure to use a cloth when removing. Using a screwdriver, etc., may cause damage and poor adhesion.
        • Also, clean a new rear spoiler insert surface.
    2. Using a heat light, heat the rear spoiler insert and a new rear spoiler cover.
      NOTE:

      Do not heat the rear spoiler cover and rear spoiler insert excessively.

    3. Remove the release paper from the rear spoiler cover.
      NOTE:

      After removing the peeling paper, do not touch the surface of the tape with your fingers or cotton work gloves.

    4. Install the rear spoiler cover in the position shown in the illustration.

      *a Double-sided Tape - -
      NOTE:

      The application strength of the rear spoiler cover will weaken if reapplied. If reapplication is necessary, be sure to replace it with a new one.

      HINT: 

      Apply pressure so that it does not lift up from the rear spoiler insert.

  9. INSTALL REAR SPOILER COVER LH 
    1. Attach the claws and install the rear spoiler cover LH.

  10. INSTALL REAR SPOILER COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  11. INSTALL REAR SPOILER NO. 12 PROTECTOR LH 

    HINT: 

    When installing the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH, heat the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH and rear spoiler sub-assembly using a heat light.

    NOTE:

    Do not heat the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH and rear spoiler sub-assembly excessively.

    1. When reusing the rear spoiler sub-assembly:
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear spoiler sub-assembly surface.
      2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear spoiler sub-assembly.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
        NOTE:
        • Installing the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH with some double-sided tape remaining may cause poor adhesion. Perform this procedure until the tape is sufficiently removed.

        • Also, clean a new rear spoiler sub-assembly surface.
    2. Apply primer to the rear spoiler sub-assembly on the installation area of the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH using a brush or felt.

      Primer
      NOTE:
      • Replace the brush or felt if it is dirty or has become hardened.
      • Keep any painted surface free from primer.
      • If the primer contacts a painted surface, it may leave light primer marks. Therefore, use protective tape when using liquid primer.
      • Do not touch surfaces to which primer has been applied until the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH has been attached.
    3. Let the primer dry sufficiently.
      NOTE:

      Do not touch applied surfaces until the primer is dry.

      Recommended drying time

      10 minutes or more (at 23°C (73°F))

    4. Using a heat light, heat the rear spoiler sub-assembly and a new rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH.
      NOTE:

      Do not heat the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH and rear spoiler sub-assembly excessively.

    5. Remove the release paper from the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH.
      NOTE:

      After removing the peeling paper, do not touch the surface of the tape with your fingers or cotton work gloves.

    6. Install the rear spoiler No. 12 protector LH in the position shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

  12. INSTALL REAR SPOILER NO. 12 PROTECTOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  13. INSTALL REAR SPOILER PROTECTOR LH 

    HINT: 

    When installing the rear spoiler protector LH, heat the rear spoiler protector LH and rear spoiler sub-assembly using a heat light.

      NOTE:

  14. INSTALL REAR SPOILER PROTECTOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  15. INSTALL REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the rear spoiler sub-assembly with 4 new "TORX" screws.

      Torque: 5.1 N.m (52 kgf/cm, 45 in.lbf)
