Reassembly [10/2018 - 07/2022]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE PANEL REINFORCEMENT LINING 
    1. Clean the rear door panel.
    2. Remove the release paper from a new rear door outside panel reinforcement lining.
    3. Install the rear door outside panel reinforcement lining as shown in the illustration.

      A 23.1 mm (0.909 in.)
      B 3.8 mm (0.150 in.)
      C 7.3 mm (0.287 in.)

      F 50.7 mm (2.00 in.)
  2. INSTALL HOLE PLUG 
    1. Install the 3 hole plugs.

  3. INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. INSTALL NO. 3 REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP 
    1. Clean the rear door panel.
    2. Remove the release paper from a new No. 3 rear door weatherstrip.
    3. Install the No. 3 rear door weatherstrip.

      *a Double-sided Tape
    4. Press the double-sided tape area of the No. 3 rear door weatherstrip.
  5. INSTALL REAR DOOR FRONT OUTSIDE SEAL 
    1. Install the rear door front outside seal.

  6. INSTALL REAR DOOR FRONT WINDOW FRAME MOULDING 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. INSTALL REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  8. INSTALL NO. 5 REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP 
    1. Clean the rear door panel.
    2. Remove the release paper from a new No. 5 rear door weatherstrip.
    3. Engage the clip to install the No. 5 rear door weatherstrip.

      *a Double-sided Tape
    4. Press the double-sided tape area of the No. 5 rear door weatherstrip.
  9. INSTALL REAR DOOR DUST PROOF SEAL 
    1. Install the 3 rear door dust proof seals.

  10. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  11. INSTALL REAR DOOR PANEL CUSHION 
    1. Install the rear door panel cushion.

  12. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP 
    1. Clean the rear door panel.
    2. Remove the release paper from a new No. 2 rear door weatherstrip.
    3. Engage the clips to install the No. 2 rear door weatherstrip.

    4. Press the double-sided tape area of the No. 2 rear door weatherstrip.
  13. INSTALL REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP 
    1. Clean the rear door panel.
    2. Remove the release paper from a new rear door weatherstrip.
    3. Engage the clips to install the rear door weatherstrip.

    4. Press the double-sided tape area of the rear door weatherstrip.
  14. INSTALL REAR DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Clean the bolt hole in the vehicle body.
    2. When reusing a bolt:
      1. Clean the threads of the bolt with non-residue solvent.
      2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the bolt.

        Adhesive

        Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent.

    3. Install the rear door check assembly to the door panel with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)

    4. Install the rear door check assembly to the body panel with the bolt.

      Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf) 

  15. INSTALL REAR DOOR HANDLE NUT 
    1. Install the rear door handle nut as shown in the illustration.

  16. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the screw and front door outside handle frame sub-assembly.

      Torque: 4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf) 

  17. INSTALL REAR DOOR REAR OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD 
    1. Engage the claws to install the rear door rear outside handle pad as shown in the illustration.

  18. INSTALL REAR DOOR FRONT OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD

    1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the rear door outside handle cover with the screw as shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf) 

  20. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the rear door outside handle assembly as shown in the illustration.

  21. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the rear door lock cover sub-assembly.

  22. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK CHILD PROTECTION COVER 
    1. Install the rear door lock child protection cover.

  23. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  24. INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily install the rear door window regulator sub-assembly with the 6 nuts.
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to drop the rear door window regulator as it may become damaged.

    2. Tighten the temporary 6 nuts to install the rear door window regulator sub-assembly.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

      HINT: 

      Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

  25. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest upper base panel.
    2. Connect the cable to the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal.
    3. Move the rear door window regulator so that the rear door glass bolt hole can be seen.
    4. Disconnect the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal.
    5. Disconnect the power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest upper base panel.
    6. Insert the rear door glass sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the rear door glass sub-assembly.

    7. Install the rear door glass sub-assembly to the rear door window regulator sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)

    8. Install the hole plug.

  26. INSTALL REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW WEATHERSTRIP 
    1. Install the rear door quarter window weatherstrip.

  27. INSTALL REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS 
    1. Install the rear door quarter window glass with rear door quarter window weatherstrip as shown in the illustration.

  28. INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW DIVISION BAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily install the rear door window division bar sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

    2. Using a riveter with a nose piece, install the rear door window division bar sub-assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not pry the front door front lower frame sub-assembly with the riveter, as this will cause damage to the riveter and mandrel.

      • Confirm that the front door front lower frame sub-assembly are seated properly against the vehicle body.
      • Do not tilt the riveter when installing the front door front lower frame sub-assembly to the front door.

      HINT: 

      If the mandrel of the front door front lower frame sub-assembly does not come off on the first operation of the rivet gun, slide the rivet gun forward on the mandrel and operate it again.

    3. Tighten the temporary 2 bolts to install the rear door window division bar sub-assembly.

      Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf) 

  29. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS RUN 
    1. Install the rear door glass run.

  30. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR DOOR VENT SEAL 
    1. Install the No. 2 rear door vent seal as shown in the illustration.

  33. INSTALL REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER 
    1. Apply new butyl tape to the rear door panel.
    2. Pass the each cable through a new rear door service hole cover.
    3. Install the front door service hole cover according to the reference points on the rear door panel.

      Securely install the rear door service hole cover preventing wrinkles and air bubbles.

    4. Connect the 2 connectors.
