DTC C050C-49: Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Internal Electronic Failure [10/2018 - 07/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Rear Speed Sensor LH (Rear Axle Hub and Bearing Assembly LH))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the k1 rear speed sensor LH (rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      k1-2 (+) - k1-1 (-) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Rear Speed Sensor LH (Rear Axle Hub and Bearing Assembly LH))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the k1 rear speed sensor LH (rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      k1-2 (+) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

  3. INSPECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

    2. Disconnect the k1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the kN1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      k1-1 (-) or kN1-2 (RL-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A38 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the kN1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      kN1-2 (-) or A38-23 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Skid Control Sensor Wire LH (No. 2 Parking Brake Wire Assembly))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the kN1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      kN1-1 (RL+) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A38 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the kN1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      kN1-1 (RL+) - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Skid Control Sensor Wire LH (No. 2 Parking Brake Wire Assembly))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the kN1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      kN1-1 (RL+) - kN1-2 (RL-) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

    2. Disconnect the kN1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      kN1-1 (RL+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

    2. Disconnect the A38 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      kN1-2 (RL-) - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A38 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the kN1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      kN1-2 (RL-) - A38-23 (RL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      kN1-1 (RL+) or A38-39 (RL+) - kN1-2 (RL-) or A38-23 (RL-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result:

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A38 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the kN1 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      kN2-1 (RL+) - A38-39 (RL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      kN2-1 (RL+) or A38-39 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:
