DTC B1573: Short in Telephone Antenna Circuit; DTC B15CB: Telematics Transceiver Antenna Disconnected [11/2017 - 09/2020]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and wait for 10 seconds.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Clear DTCs 

    6. Recheck for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1573 or B15CB is output A
      DTC B1573 or B15CB is not output B

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2017 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [03/2019 - 09/2020]

  2. INSPECT TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA ASSEMBLY (for Roof Side) 
    1. Disconnect the telephone and GPS antenna assembly (for Roof Side) connector from the telephone and GPS antenna cord (No. 3 antenna cord sub-assembly).

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Telephone and GPS Antenna Assembly (for Roof Side))
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 - 4a Always 4 to 11 kΩ

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA ASSEMBLY (for Roof Side). Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2014 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA CORD (NO. 3 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the telephone and GPS antenna cord (No. 3 antenna cord sub-assembly) connector from the telephone and GPS antenna cord (No. 2 antenna cord sub-assembly).

      *a Telephone and GPS antenna cord (No. 3 Antenna Cord Sub-assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-4 - B-6 Always Below 1 Ω
      A-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B-6 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-4a - B-6a Always Below 1 Ω
      A-4a - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B-6a - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA CORD (NO. 3 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2014 - 09/2020] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA CORD (NO. 2 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the telephone and GPS antenna cord (No. 2 antenna cord sub-assembly) connector from the telephone and GPS antenna cord (instrument panel wire).

      *a Telephone and GPS antenna cord (No. 2 Antenna Cord Sub-assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B-6 - O137-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      B-6 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O137-3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B-6a - O137-3a Always Below 1 Ω
      B-6a - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O137-3a - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA CORD (NO. 2 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

    OK

  5. INSPECT TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA CORD (INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the telephone and GPS antenna cord (instrument panel wire) connector from the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

      *a Telephone and GPS antenna cord (Instrument Panel Wire)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O137-3 - O138-1 (TEL) Always Below 1 Ω
      O137-3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O138-1 (TEL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O137-3a - O138-1a Always Below 1 Ω
      O137-3a - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O138-1a - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA CORD (INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE) 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. REPLACE TELEPHONE AND GPS ANTENNA ASSEMBLY (for Roof Side) 
    1. Replace the telephone and GPS antenna assembly (for Roof Side) with a known good one and check if the same problem occurs again.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

      OK

      The system returns to normal.

      Result

  7. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Replace the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2017 - 09/2020]

      NOTE:
      • The engine switch must be off.
      • Do not swap the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) with one from another vehicle.

      Result

    PERFORM DCM ACTIVATION. Refer to  DCM ACTIVATION [11/2017 - 09/2020]
