DTC B15C4-64: Airbag Signal Signal Plausibility Failure [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC (AIRBAG SYSTEM) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 10 seconds.

      Procedure1

    2. Check the DTC of "AIRBAG SYSTEM".

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2017 - 10/2023] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2023 - ]

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

      Post-procedure1

    3. None

    Result: 

    GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2021 - 10/2023]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2023 - ]

  2. CLEAR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 10 seconds or more.

      Procedure1

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Post-procedure1

    3. None

    Result: 

    NEXT

  3. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      B15C4-64 is not output A
      B15C4-64 is output B

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2022 - 10/2023]  , or refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2023 - ]

  4. CHECK DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) (GSW SIGNAL) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver) but do not disconnect the connectors.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (DCM [Telematics Transceiver])

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

      Procedure1

    2. Check the input waveform.
      1. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below. (Check the waveform from the back of the wire harness connector of the DCM (telematics transceiver) while the airbag ECU assembly connectors are connected.)

        Reference Waveform

        Item Condition
        Tester connection G163-13 (GSW) - Body ground
        Tool setting 5.0 V/DIV., 20 ms/DIV.
        Vehicle condition Ignition switch ON

        OK

        The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration.

        Result

  5. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Replace the DCM (telematics transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

      NOTE:
      • The ignition switch must be off.
      • Do not exchange the DCM (telematics transceiver) with one from another vehicle.

    PERFORM DCM ACTIVATION. Refer to  DCM ACTIVATION [10/2022 - ] 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM [TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER] - AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the G163 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the G11 airbag ECU assembly connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G163-13 (GSW) - G11-23 (GSW3) Always Below 1 Ω
      G163-13 (GSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    4. None

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
