Brake Hold Standby Indicator Light Circuit [12/2017 - 09/2018]: Procedure

  1. PRE-CHECK 
    1. If the brake hold standby indicator light does not illuminate even though the brake hold switch is pushed, check that the brake hold function operation conditions are met.
      1. The driver side door is closed.
      2. The driver side seat belt is fastened.
      3. The system is normal.

      HINT: 

      If a malfunction occurs in one of the following systems, the brake hold operated indicator light will blink. If this occurs, perform troubleshooting on the malfunctioning system.

      • Brake system
      • Electric parking brake system
      • SFI system

  2. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if CAN communication system DTCs are output.

      Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [12/2017 - 09/2018]

    Result:

    CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2017 - 09/2018]

  3. CHECK IF BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Jiggle the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connectors and wire harnesses vertically and horizontally and check the brake hold standby indicator light status.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTOR TO BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch off.
    3. Perform the Active Test of the combination meter assembly (meter CPU) using the Techstream.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [12/2017 - 10/2020]

      for Sport Package:

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Brake Hold Indicator

      except Sport Package:

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Multi Display Default Screen
    4. Check the combination meter assembly.

      OK

      for Sport Package 

      The brake hold standby indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the Techstream operation

      except Sport Package 

      The multi-information display ON or OFF in accordance with the Techstream operation

    Result:

    INSPECT METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2017 - 10/2023]

  5. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (BRAKE HOLD STANDBY INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    2. Select the Active Test on the Techstream.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [12/2017 - 09/2018]

      Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC > Active Test

    3. Select the Data List on the Techstream.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [12/2017 - 09/2018]

    4. Check the operating condition of the brake hold standby indicator light when operating it using the Techstream.

      Brake hold standby indicator light in the Data List turns ON/OFF using the Active Test. B

    Result:

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2017 - 09/2018]

  6. INSPECT BRAKE HOLD SWITCH 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Brake Hold Switch)
    2. Disconnect the GG2 brake hold switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      GG2- 3 - GG2- 4 Switch pushed Below 1 Ω
      GG2- 3 - GG2- 4 Switch not pushed 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - BRAKE HOLD SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the A9 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A9-3 (PKB) - GG2- 3 Always Below 1 Ω
      A9-3 (PKB) or GG2- 3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      GG2- 4 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2017 - 09/2018] 

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. INSPECT SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the G7 switch wire.

      *1 Switch Wire
      *a Front view of wire harness connector(to Vehicle Side Connector)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector(to Switch Connector)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G7- 3 (+B) - GG2 -3 Always Below 1 Ω
      G7- 3 (+B) or GG2- 3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G7- 6 (E) - GG2- 4 Always Below 1 Ω
      G7- 6 (E) or GG2- 4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE HOLD SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2017 - 10/2022]

    REPLACE SWITCH WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2017 - 10/2022]
