DTC B1500-13: Fuel Sender Circuit Open; DTC B1501-13: Sub Fuel Sender Circuit Open [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B1500-13 and B1501-13 are output A
      B1500-13 is output B
      B1501-13 is output C

    Result:

  2. CHECK FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the L23 fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.
    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Clear DTCs 

    3. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B1500-13 and B1501-13 are output A
      B1500-13 is output B

  3. CHECK NO. 2 FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the L38 No. 2 fuel sender gauge assembly connector.
    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Clear DTCs 

    3. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B1500-13 and B1501-13 are output A
      B1501-13 is output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE NO. 2 FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the L23 fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the L38 No. 2 fuel sender gauge assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the G208 combination meter assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L23-3 (FR) - G208-7 (FR) Always Below 1 Ω
      L23-2 (FE) - G208-25 (FE&B) Always Below 1 Ω
      L23-1 (FV) - G208-23 (FV) Always Below 1 Ω
      G208-7 (FR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G208-25 (FE&B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G208-23 (FV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    2. Reconnect the L23 fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.
    3. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Clear DTCs 

    4. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B1500-13 and B1501-13 are output A
      B1500-13 is output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [12/2017 - ] 

    Result: 

    REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ] 

  6. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    2. Inspect the fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2017 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

  7. INSPECT FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    (Fuel Suction Plate Sub-assembly)
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L23-1 (FV) - A-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      L23-2 (FE) - A-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      L23-3 (FR) - A-1 Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [12/2017 - ]

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the L23 fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the G208 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L23-3 (FR) - G208-7 (FR) Always Below 1 Ω
      L23-2 (FE) - G208-25 (FE&B) Always Below 1 Ω
      L23-1 (FV) - G208-23 (FV) Always Below 1 Ω
      G208-7 (FR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G208-25 (FE&B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G208-23 (FV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Remove the No. 2 fuel sender gauge assembly.

    2. Inspect the No. 2 fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2017 - ]

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the L38 No. 2 fuel sender gauge assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the G208 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L38-3 (FR2) - G208-24 (FR2) Always Below 1 Ω
      L38-2 (FE2) - G208-25 (FE&B) Always Below 1 Ω
      L38-1 (FV2) - G208-23 (FV) Always Below 1 Ω
      G208-24 (FR2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G208-25 (FE&B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G208-23 (FV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
