Removal [05/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [05/2023 - ]

    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [05/2023 - ]

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    WARNING:
    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR NO. 2 OPENING TRIM COVER RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 32

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 GLOVE COMPARTMENT PANEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 GLOVE COMPARTMENT PANEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 33

  10. REMOVE CONSOLE PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  11. REMOVE RADIO REMOTE TUNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  12. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  13. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  14. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE BOX 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  15. REMOVE BOX PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  16. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  17. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    Deployment Side
    • When storing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
    1. Check that the power switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:
      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      Remove the 3 bolts.

      Remove in this Direction
      Place Hands Here

      Place your hand at the position shown in the illustration and pull toward the rear of the vehicle to detach the claw and pull out the No. 2 lower instrument panel airbag assembly.

    5. Tilt the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly toward the seat and support it with one hand.

      *a Lock Button
      Protective Tape
    6. Using a thin-bladed screwdriver wrapped with protective tape, release the lock button and disconnect the airbag connector.
    7. Using a thin-bladed screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the clamp and remove the No. 2 lower instrument panel airbag assembly.
