DTC B166A/72: Pressure Sensor Difference for Front Door [03/2017 - 04/2020]: Procedure

1. Check for DTCs.

   Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2017 - 04/2020]

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

   OK

   DTCs B1633/81, B1638/81, B1642/81, B1643/81, B1647/81, B1648/81, B166D/81, B166E/81, B167B/82 and B167C/82 are not output.

   HINT: 

   If B1633/81, B1638/81, B1642/81, B1643/81, B1647/81, B1648/81, B166D/81, B166E/81, B167B/82 and B167C/82 is output, perform troubleshooting for the DTC first.

   Result

   Proceed to
   OK
   NG

Result: 

NG 

GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [03/2017 - 04/2020] 

Result: 

OK 

See step  2

1. Turn the engine switch off.
2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
3. Replace the door side airbag sensor LH with a known good one.

   Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]

   HINT: 

   Perform the following inspection using known good parts from another vehicle if possible.

4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

   Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2017 - 04/2020]

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

7. Turn the engine switch off.
8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
9. Check for DTCs.

   Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2017 - 04/2020]

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

   Result

   Proceed to
   DTC B166A/72 is output
   DTC B166A/72 is not output

   HINT: 

   Codes other than DTC B166A/72 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

10. Turn the engine switch off.
11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
12. Restore the door side airbag sensor LH that was installed for testing to its original location.

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]

Result: 

DTC B166A/72 is not output 

REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023] 

Result: 

DTC B166A/72 is output 

See step  3

1. Turn the engine switch off.
2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
3. Replace the door side airbag sensor RH with a known good one.

   Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]

   HINT: 

   Perform the following inspection using known good parts from another vehicle if possible.

4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

   Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2017 - 04/2020]

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

7. Turn the engine switch off.
8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
9. Check for DTCs.

   Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2017 - 04/2020]

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

   Result

   Proceed to
   DTC B166A/72 is output
   DTC B166A/72 is not output

   HINT: 

   Codes other than DTC B166A/72 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

10. Turn the engine switch off.
11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
12. Restore the door side airbag sensor RH that was installed for testing to its original location.

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]

Result: 

DTC B166A/72 is output 

REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023] 

Result: 

DTC B166A/72 is not output 

REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]
