Back-up Light Circuit [03/2017 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Start the engine.
    2. Changes the shift lever R position.
    3. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK-UP LIGHT ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the back-up light assembly connector.

      (to Back-up Light Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      c6-3 (B/U) - Body ground Start the engine, shift lever R position 8 to 14 V
      Start the engine, shift lever except R position Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK-UP LIGHT ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the back-up light assembly connector.

      (to Back-up Light Assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      c6-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BACK-UP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK SHIFT CONTROL ECU 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      (to No. 3 Semiconductor Power Integration ECU)
    2. Disconnect the No. 3 semiconductor power integration ECU connector.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X99-11 (+S) - Body ground Start the engine, shift lever R position 6 V or higher
      Start the engine, shift lever except R position Below 1.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 3 SEMICONDUCTOR POWER INTEGRATION ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 3 SEMICONDUCTOR POWER INTEGRATION ECU - SHIFT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the X99 No. 3 semiconductor power integration ECU connector.
    3. Disconnect the P74 shift control ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X99-11 (+S) - P74-15 (BL) Always Below 1 Ω
      X99-11 (+S) or P74-15 (BL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X99-11 (+S) or P74-15 (BL) - Body ground Always Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE SHIFT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. CHECK BACK-UP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the c6 back-up light assembly connector.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Changes the shift lever except R position.
    4. Changes the shift lever R position.
    5. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  9. CHECK MULTI-DISPLAY 
    1. Disconnect the P42 multi-display connector.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Changes the shift lever except R position.
    4. Changes the shift lever R position.
    5. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK-UP LIGHT CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the X99 No. 3 semiconductor power integration ECU connector.
    3. Disconnect the c6 back-up light assembly connector.
    4. Disconnect the P42 multi-display connector.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X99-4 (L) or c6-3 (B/U) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 3 SEMICONDUCTOR POWER INTEGRATION ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023]
