Installation [07/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL ENGINE REAR OIL SEAL 
    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new engine rear oil seal.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, tap in the engine rear oil seal.

      • SST: 09223-1503009950-70010

      -1.0 to 0 mm (-0.0394 to 0 in.) (From the edge of the engine rear oil seal retainer)

      NOTE:
      • Keep the lip free from foreign matter.
      • Do not tap in the engine rear oil seal at an angle.
      • Do not tap in the engine rear oil seal excessively.
  2. INSTALL DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.

      • SST: 09213-38010 
        1. 09214-00011
      • SST: 09330-00021 
    2. Clean the 10 bolt holes.
    3. Install the crankshaft angle sensor rotor.

      HINT: 

      Align the pin hole of the crankshaft angle sensor rotor with the pin of the crankshaft.

    4. Install the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly and rear drive plate spacer onto the crankshaft.

      Automatic Transmission Side

      HINT: 

      As the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly and the rear drive plate spacer are not reversible, be sure to install them so that they are facing in the direction shown in the illustration.

    5. Apply a few drops of adhesive to 2 or 3 threads at the tip of each of 10 new drive plate setting hexagon bolts.

      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

      NOTE:
      • Do not reuse the drive plate setting hexagon bolts.
      • To prevent contamination by foreign matter, install immediately after applying adhesive.
    6. Install and uniformly tighten the 10 drive plate setting hexagon bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 29.5 N.m (301 kgf/cm, 22 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Handle the drive plate setting hexagon bolts carefully. Do not scratch them or subject them to any shocks.
      • Do not start the engine for at least 1 hour after installing the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly.
    7. Mark the upside of each drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly installation bolt with paint.
    8. Tighten the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly installation bolts another 90° as shown in the illustration.
    9. Check that the paint marks are now at 90° angle.

  3. INSPECT DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [07/2020 - ]

  5. INSPECT FOR ENGINE OIL LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [07/2020 - 11/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [11/2021 - ]
