DTC C1683: Side Camera Feedback Malfunction [06/2018 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Chassis > Circumference Monitoring Camera Control Module > Clear DTCs 

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Chassis > Circumference Monitoring Camera Control Module > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC C1683 is not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [06/2018 - ]

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING ASSIST ECU - OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Disconnect the N43 parking assist ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the J12 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N43-40 (RCB+) - J12-2 (RCB+) Always Below 1 Ω
      N43-38 (RCV+) - J12-7 (RCV+) Always Below 1 Ω
      N43-16 (RCV-) - J12-6 (RCV-) Always Below 1 Ω
      N43-17 (RGND) - J12-1 (RGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      N43-39 (SGND) - J12-3 (SGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      N43-40 (RCB+) or J12-2 (RCB+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N43-38 (RCV+) or J12-7 (RCV+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N43-16 (RCV-) or J12-6 (RCV-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N43-17 (RGND) or J12-1 (RGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N43-39 (SGND) or J12-3 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK PARKING ASSIST ECU (RCV-, RGND) 
    1. Disconnect the N43 parking assist ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Parking Assist ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      17 (RGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      16 (RCV-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    Result:

    REPLACE PARKING ASSIST ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022]

  4. CHECK PARKING ASSIST ECU (RCB+, RGND) 
    1. Remove the parking assist ECU with the connector still connected.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N43-17 (RGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N43-40 (RCB+) - N43-17 (RGND) Engine switch on (IG) 5.5 to 7.05 V

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE PARKING ASSIST ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022]

  5. CHECK SIDE TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY RH (RCV+, RGND) 
    1. Remove the parking assist ECU with the connector still connected.
    2. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform of the side television camera assembly RH.

      HINT: 

      A waterproof connector is used for the side television camera assembly RH. Therefore, inspect the waveform at the parking assist ECU with the connector connected.

      HINT: 

      • The video waveform changes according to the image sent by the side television camera assembly RH.
      • The video waveform is constantly output when the engine switch is on (ACC).
      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Tool Setting 200 mV/DIV., 50 μsec./DIV.
      Condition Engine switch on (IG), panoramic view monitor system operating

  6. REPLACE SIDE TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Replace the side television camera assembly RH with a new or normally functioning one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022]

  7. CHECK FOR DTC
