DTC B1508-19: Turn Signal/Hazard Flasher Circuit Current Above Threshold [08/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK SYMPTOMS 
    1. Operate the turn signal switch and check the problem symptoms.

  2. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  4. CHECK TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Remove the headlight unit assembly LH from the headlight assembly LH.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [08/2021 - ]

    2. Remove the headlight unit assembly RH from the headlight assembly RH.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [08/2021 - ]

    3. Interchange the headlight unit assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.
    4. Check the front/side turn signal light (LH side) operates normally.

      Result

    1. Remove the headlight assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Remove the headlight assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    3. Interchange the headlight assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.
      NOTE:

      Do not interchange the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH with RH.

    4. Check the front/side turn signal light (LH side) operates normally.

    REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - ] 

  8. CHECK TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Remove the outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Remove the outer rear view mirror assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    3. Interchange the outer rear view mirror assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.
    4. Check the front/side turn signal light (LH side) operates normally.
      NOTE:

      If the front/side turn signal light (LH side) operates normally, return the outer rear view mirror assembly LH and outer rear view mirror assembly RH that were interchanged in a previous step back to their original conditions so that a component of the outer rear view mirror assembly LH can be inspected in the next step.

  9. CHECK TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G24 hazard warning signal switch assembly connector.
    2. Check the front/side turn signal light (LH side) operates normally.

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT/SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (LH SIDE) - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A78 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the J28 outer mirror control ECU assembly LH connector.*1
    3. Disconnect the J33 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.*2
    4. Disconnect the G16 combination meter assembly connector.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A78-11 (TNS), J28-11 (TRNI)*1, J33-16 (B)*2, G24-2 (HFL) or G16-13 (LL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      1. *1: w/ Seat Position Memory
      2. *2: w/o Seat Position Memory

    Result:

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  11. CHECK TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Remove the side turn signal light assembly LH from the outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Remove the side turn signal light assembly RH from the outer rear view mirror assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    3. Interchange the side turn signal light assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.
    4. Check the front/side turn signal light (LH side) operates normally.

      Result

      Front/side turn signal light (LH side) operates normally A
      Front/side turn signal light (LH side) does not blink B

    Result:

    REPLACE SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    REPLACE OUTER MIRROR RETRACTOR LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - ] 

  12. CHECK TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Remove the rear combination light assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Remove the rear combination light assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    3. Interchange the rear combination light assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.
    4. Check the rear turn signal light (LH side) operates normally.

      Result

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (LH SIDE) - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the R9 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the G16 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R9-3 (TRN) or G16-11 (TRNL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  14. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the headlight ECU sub-assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    3. Interchange the headlight assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors.
      NOTE:

      Do not interchange the headlight ECU sub-assembly RH with LH.

    4. Check the front/side turn signal light (RH side) operates normally.

    1. Remove the outer rear view mirror assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Remove the outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    3. Interchange the outer rear view mirror assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors.
    4. Check the front/side turn signal light (RH side) operates normally.
      NOTE:

      If the front/side turn signal light (RH side) operates normally, return the outer rear view mirror assembly RH and outer rear view mirror assembly LH that were interchanged in a previous step back to their original conditions so that a component of the outer rear view mirror assembly RH can be inspected in the next step.

    1. Disconnect the A79 headlight assembly RH connector.
    2. Disconnect the J6 outer mirror control ECU assembly RH connector.*1
    3. Disconnect the J11 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.*2
    4. Disconnect the G16 combination meter assembly connector.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A79-11 (TNS), J6-11 (TRNI)*1, J11-16 (B)*2 or G16-7 (LR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      1. *1: w/ Seat Position Memory
      2. *2: w/o Seat Position Memory

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - ]

  22. CHECK TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Remove the side turn signal light assembly RH from the outer rear view mirror assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Remove the side turn signal light assembly LH from the outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    3. Interchange the side turn signal light assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors.
    4. Check the front/side turn signal light (RH side) operates normally.

      Result

      Front/side turn signal light (RH side) does not blink B

    Result:

    REPLACE SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  23. CHECK TURN SIGNAL LIGHT (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Remove the rear combination light assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Remove the rear combination light assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    3. Interchange the rear combination light assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors.
    4. Check the rear turn signal light (RH side) operates normally.

      Result
