DTC P3107-11: Lost Communication with Airbag System Control Module Circuit Short to Ground [10/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2018 - 10/2020]  Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2020 - 08/2021]  Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2021 - 07/2022]  Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [07/2022 - ] 

    Result:

  2. CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) 
    1. Connect an oscilloscope between the hybrid vehicle control ECU terminals specified in the table below.
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. Measure the waveform.

      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)

      Equipment Setting 5 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.

    4. Turn the power switch off.

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      P310711 is not output. A
      P310711 is output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [10/2018 - ]

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  6. CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the airbag ECU assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Airbag ECU Assembly)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F57-24 (GSW2) - F57-33 (E1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Reconnect the airbag ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the airbag ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Airbag ECU Assembly)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F59-29 (ABFS) or F57-24 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the airbag ECU assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]
