Transmission Control Switch Circuit [10/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS SHIFT POSITION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Shift Position.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sports Shift Position
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Sports Shift Position Sports shift position 0 to 255 Shift lever in S, "+" or "-": 1 to 6
      Shift lever in any position other than S, "+" and "-": 255

      Result

    5. Turn the power switch off.

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS SHIFT UP SIGNAL, SPORTS SHIFT DOWN SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Shift UP Signal, Sports Shift DOWN Signal.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sports Shift UP Signal
      Sports Shift DOWN Signal
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List

  3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the F18 transmission control switch (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F18-4 (IG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      F18-4 (IG) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V

    3. Turn the power switch off.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    5. Reconnect the F18 transmission control switch (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.

      Result

    CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT

  5. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission control switch (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F18-4 (IG) - F18-5 (S) Shift lever in S
      Shift lever held in "+" or "-"
      Below 1 Ω
      F18-4 (IG) - F18-5 (S) Shift lever in any position except S 10 kΩ or higher
      F18-3 (SFTU) - F18-2 (E) Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      F18-3 (SFTU) - F18-2 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the F59 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the F20 spiral cable sub-assembly connector. (w/ Shift paddle switch)
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F59-25 (M) - Body ground Power switch on (IG)
      Shift lever in S, "+" or "-"
      11 to 14 V
      Power switch on (IG)
      Except shift lever in S, "+" and "-"
      Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      If the power switch is turned on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. After performing the inspection, clear the DTCs.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F59-24 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      F59-24 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      F59-11 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω
      F59-11 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Reconnect the F20 spiral cable sub-assembly connector. (w/ Shift paddle switch)
    8. Reconnect the F59 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      F18-3 (SFTU) - F18-2 (E) Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      F18-3 (SFTU) - F18-2 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY) - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the F59 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the F20 spiral cable sub-assembly connector. (w/ Shift paddle switch)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F59-24 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      F59-11 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
