Rear Cooling System [10/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HV INVERTER COOLING FAN 
    1. Remove the deck board assembly.
    2. Check the HV inverter cooling fan blockage or clog.

      Specified Condition

      HV inverter cooling fan no blockage or clog.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG
    3. Install the deck board assembly.

    Result: 

    NG 

    CORRECT THE PROBLEM 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (REAR INVERTER COOLING FAN) 
    1. Remove the deck board assembly.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Rear Motor Generator / Active Test / Rear Inverter Cooling Fan
    6. Perform the active test.

      Powertrain > Rear Motor Generator > Active Test

      Rear Inverter Cooling Fan
    7. Check that the HV inverter cooling fan operates.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      HV inverter cooling fan operates, fan speed is stable and there is no abnormal noise. A
      HV inverter cooling fan does not operate B
      HV inverter cooling fan speed is unstable, or there is abnormal noise.
    8. Turn the power switch off.
    9. Install the deck board assembly.

    Result:

  3. CHECK COOLING FIN 
    1. Connect hybrid motor control inverter assembly rear connector.
    2. Remove HV inverter cooling cover from the hybrid motor control inverter assembly rear.
    3. Check the cooling fin blockage or clog

      Specified Condition

      Cooling fin no blockage or clog

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG
    4. Install HV inverter cooling cover from the hybrid motor control inverter assembly rear.
    5. Reconnect hybrid motor control inverter assembly rear connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REAR COOLING SYSTEM NORMAL (PERFORM NEXT STEP FOR REFERENCED DTC) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    CORRECT THE PROBLEM 

  4. CHECK HYBRID MOTOR CONTROL INVERTER ASSEMBLY REAR (REAR INVERTER COOLING FAN) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the deck board assembly.

    3. Disconnect the A rear inverter cooling fan connector.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    5. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    7. Turn the Techstream on.
    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Rear Motor Generator / Active Test / Rear Inverter Cooling Fan

      Powertrain > Rear Motor Generator > Active Test

      Rear Inverter Cooling Fan Rear inverter cooling fan can be forced to operate. Stop/Start -

    9. Check the voltage of connector A (rear inverter cooling fan connection connector) of the hybrid motor control inverter assembly rear.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-1 (+FB) - A-2 (FGND) Power switch on (IG), fan operation commanded by Active Test 10 to 12 V
      Power switch on (IG), fan operation commanded by Active Test 0 to 1.5 V

      NG
    10. Turn the power switch off.
    11. Disconnect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    12. Reconnect the A HV inverter cooling fan connector.
    13. Install the deck board assembly.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HV INVERTER COOLING FAN. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HYBRID MOTOR CONTROL INVERTER ASSEMBLY REAR. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]
