DTC B1498: Communication Malfunction (A/C Inverter Local) [10/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Check if hybrid control system DTCs are output.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Both P058A01 and P162B87 are not output A
      P058A01 and P162B87 are output B

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - IG POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Do not disconnect the connector on the high-voltage side.

    1. Disconnect the compressor with motor assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C48-1 (IG1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C48-2 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      NOTE:

      If the power switch is turned on (IG) with the connector disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. Be sure to clear the DTCs after the inspection.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2018 - ]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A46 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A46-8 (LIN3) - C48-3 (DOUT) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:

  4. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the X1 and X2 HV air conditioning wire connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X1-2 (PB) - X2-1 (ACPB) Always Below 1 Ω

      NG

  5. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      X1-1 (PE) - X2-2 (ACPE) Always Below 1 Ω

    Result:

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

    REPLACE HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ] 

  6. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X1-2 (PB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

    REPLACE HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ] 

  7. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Disconnect the N13 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Trouble Codes.
    6. Check if air conditioning system DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B1498 is not output A
      B1498 is output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2022 - ]

  8. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the N13 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the C48 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Turn the Techstream on.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    7. Check if hybrid control system DTCs are output.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes

    Result:

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY AND BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A46 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the N13 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A46-8 (LIN3) - C48-3 (DOUT) Always Below 1 Ω
      A46-8 (LIN3) - N13-2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A46-8 (LIN3) or C48-3 (DOUT) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A46-8 (LIN3) or N13-2 (LIN) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
