Removal [07/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch is turned off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [07/2022 - ]

  2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH (for LH Side) 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts.

    2. Remove the clip.
    3. Disengage the clip to remove the rear floor side member cover LH.
  4. REMOVE NO. 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts.

    2. Disengage the clip to remove the No. 1 floor under cover assembly.
  5. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - ]

  6. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT 

    See step  4

  7. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY 

    See step  4

  8. REMOVE REAR DISC 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  9. DISCONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR 

    See step  7

  10. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY 

    See step  8

  11. REMOVE FLEXIBLE HOSE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and flexible hose bracket from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

  12. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for LH Side) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - ]

  13. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  14. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  15. REMOVE REAR UPPER COIL SPRING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  16. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  17. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  18. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY (w/ AVS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  19. LOOSEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY (w/ AVS) 
    1. Remove the nut (A) and disengage the guide to separate the bracket from the rear trailing arm assembly.

      *1 Rear Axle Carrier Pin
      *2 Bracket
    2. Loosen the nut (B) of the rear shock absorber assembly.
      NOTE:

      Hold the rear axle carrier pin while rotating the nut (B).

  20. LOOSEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY (w/o AVS) 
    1. Loosen the nut of the rear shock absorber assembly.

      *1 Rear Axle Carrier Pin
      NOTE:

      Hold the rear axle carrier pin while rotating the nut.

  21. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Loosen the 2 bolts (A) of the rear trailing arm assembly.

    2. Using a jack and a wooden block, support the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

      NOTE:
      • When jacking up the rear axle carrier sub-assembly, be sure to jack it up slowly.
      • Make sure to perform this operation with the vehicle kept as low as possible.
    3. Loosen the bolt (B) of the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Because the nut (C) has its own stopper, do not turn the nut (C). Loosen the bolt (B) with the nut (C) secured.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts (A) to separate the rear trailing arm assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
    5. Remove the nut (D) to separate the rear shock absorber assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
    6. Remove the bolt (B), nut (C) and rear axle carrier sub-assembly from the rear upper control arm assembly.
      NOTE:

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the rear drive shaft assembly.
