On-Vehicle Inspection [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID

    HINT:

If no parts have been removed and installed, it is not necessary to start the oil pump with motor assembly (step #1) when replacing the hybrid transaxle fluid, performing a fluid level inspection, etc.

    1. Put the engine in inspection mode.

Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE [10/2015 - ]

    2. Idle the engine for one minute.

      HINT:

The oil pump will operate to circulate hybrid transmission fluid through the oil cooler system.

    3. Turn the power switch off.
    4. Start the oil pump with motor assembly. [#1]
      1. According to the display on the Techstream perform the Active Test.

      2. Start the oil pump with motor assembly and wait for 30 seconds.
      3. Stop the oil pump with motor assembly.

      *a 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.197 in.)
    6. Check that the hybrid transaxle fluid level is between 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.197 in.) from the bottom lip of the filler plug opening.
      NOTE:
      • When inspecting the hybrid transaxle fluid, make sure that the vehicle is level.
      • Be sure to directly check that the hybrid transaxle fluid level is within the specified range.
      • Driving the vehicle with an insufficient or excessive amount of hybrid transaxle fluid may damage the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
      • If the hybrid transaxle fluid was replaced or if hybrid transaxle fluid was added, make sure to recheck the hybrid transaxle fluid level after driving the vehicle.
    7. Check for leaks if the hybrid transaxle fluid level is low. (If there are no hybrid transaxle fluid leaks but the hybrid transaxle fluid level is low, add hybrid transaxle fluid.)

      See step  2

    8. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the filler plug and a new gasket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
