Removal [08/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.

      NOTE:
      • If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
      • Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
  2. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  4. REMOVE ECM 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ] 

  5. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

  6. REMOVE INLET AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 

    See step  2

  7. REMOVE BATTERY 

    for 2WD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

    for AWD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  8. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    for 2WD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

    for AWD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  9. REMOVE BATTERY BRACKET REINFORCEMENT 

    for 2WD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

    for AWD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  10. REMOVE FUEL PUMP PROTECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  11. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 

    for 2WD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 32

    for AWD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 33

  12. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

  13. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  14. INSTALL ENGINE SUPPORT BRIDGE 

    for 2WD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 35

    for AWD: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 36

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING STAY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  16. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  17. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 2) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.

      NOTE:
      • If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
      • Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
