Inspection [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT AXLE HUB BOLT

Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. INSPECT TIRES
    1. Inspect the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

Specified Pressure (When Tire is Cool)

      Tire Size Vehicle Speed
      km/h (mph)
      Front
      kPa (kgf/cm2 , psi)
      Rear
      kPa (kgf/cm2 , psi)
      245/50RF19 101V 160 (99) or more 310 (3.1, 45) 310 (3.1, 45)
      Less than 160 (99) 250 (2.5, 36) 250 (2.5, 36)
      245/45R20 99Y 220 (137) or more 300 (3.0, 44) 300 (3.0, 44)
      Less than 220 (137) 240 (2.4, 35) 240 (2.4, 35)
      245/45R20 99V 160 (99) or more 300 (3.0, 44) 300 (3.0, 44)
      Less than 160 (99) 240 (2.4, 35) 240 (2.4, 35)
      NOTE:

When the tires are warm, DO NOT adjust them to the cold tire inflation pressure.

Otherwise, the tire pressure warning indicator may be on when the tires become cold.

      1. Tire pressure adjustment method when warm:
        1. Turn the power switch off.
        2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
        3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
        4. Turn the GTS on.
        5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.
        6. Adjust the tire pressure so that the displayed value is equal to the set pressure.
        7. Perform initialization and check that initialization completes.
        8. Check and record the value of the Data List item "Temperature in Tire". (Ts)
        9. Check and record the ambient temperature during tire pressure adjustment. (Tm)
        10. Readjust the tire pressure according to the difference between the tire internal temperature (Ts) and the ambient temperature (Tm). (P)

          HINT:

Tire internal temperature: Ts, Ambient temperature: Tm, Tire pressure readjustment value: P

          P = (Specified Pressure) + (Ts - Tm)

        11. Check the pressure adjustment value with the Data List item "Tire Inflation Pressure".

        ID 3 Tire Inflation Pressure
        ID 4 Tire Inflation Pressure
        ID 1 Temperature in Tire
        ID 2 Temperature in Tire
        ID 3 Temperature in Tire
        ID 4 Temperature in Tire

        w/o Front LiDAR Sensor:

Chassis > Tire Pressure Monitor > Data List

        Tester Display
        ID 1 Temperature in Tire
        ID 2 Temperature in Tire
        ID 3 Temperature in Tire
        ID 4 Temperature in Tire
        ID 1 Tire Inflation Pressure
        ID 2 Tire Inflation Pressure
        ID 3 Tire Inflation Pressure
        ID 4 Tire Inflation Pressure
        NOTE:

Check the tire pressure warning system for the relationship between the inflation pressure and tire pressure warning pressure.

  3. ROTATE TIRES

      Front

      Remove the wheel assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    2. When the size of the front and rear tires are the same, rotate the tires as shown in the illustration (A). When the size of the front and rear tires are not the same, rotate the tires as shown in the illustration (B).
    3. Install the wheel assembly.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2023 - ]

      HINT:

When a tire rotation is performed on a vehicle that has different specified tire pressures for the front and rear of the vehicle, it is necessary to perform initialization for the tire pressure warning system.

  4. INSPECT AND ADJUST WHEEL BALANCE
    1. Inspect and adjust the off-the-car balance.

      *a 25 mm (0.984 in.)

      Maximum Imbalance

      8.0 g (0.0176 lb)

      NOTE:
      • Use a cleaning detergent to remove dirt, oil and water from the surface where the balance weight is to be adhered.
      • Do not touch the adhesive surface of the balance weight.
      • Adhere a stick-on type balance weight to the flat surface*a shown in the illustration.
      • Push the balance weight with your finger to securely adhere it to the desired position.
      • Do not reuse balance weights.
      • Please use the LEXUS genuine sticking type balance weight.

      HINT:

      • Use stick-on type balance weights for both the inner and outer side.
      • If the tires vibrate even after off-the-car balance adjustment, adjust the wheel balance with on-the-car balancing as necessary.
  5. INSPECT TIRE UNIFORMITY
    1. Using a dial indicator, check the runout of the tires.

      Maximum Tire Runout

      1.0 mm (0.0394 in.)

      HINT:

Remove the wheel assembly from the vehicle, and measure the wheel assembly alone.

  6. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING

    Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [10/2023 - ]

  7. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING

    Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [10/2023 - ]
