Recirculated/Fresh Air Modes do not Switch [06/2018 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. CHECK NO. 1 BLOWER DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the No. 1 blower damper servo sub-assembly is installed correctly.

      OK

      The No. 1 blower damper servo sub-assembly is installed correctly.

    Result:

    INSTALL NO. 1 BLOWER DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY. Refer to  REASSEMBLY [06/2018 - ]

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Trouble Codes.
    5. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B1442 is not output A
      B1442 is output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC B1442. Refer to  DTC B1442: Air Inlet Damper Control Servo Motor [06/2018 - ]

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Coolant Temperature Engine coolant temperature Min.: -40°C (-40°F), Max.: 140°C (284°F) 75 to 100°C (167 to 212°F): After warming up This is the engine coolant temperature.
      HINT: 
      • After warming up the engine, the engine coolant temperature will be 75 to 100°C (167 to 212°F).
      • After a long soak, the engine coolant temperature, intake air temperature and ambient air temperature will be approximately equal.
      • If the value is -40°C (-40°F), or higher than 135°C (275°F), the sensor circuit is open or shorted.
      • Check if the engine overheats if the value indicated is higher than 135°C (275°F).

      After warming up the engine, the temperature value displayed is within the range specified in the normal condition column.

  4. INSPECT SMOG VENTILATION SENSOR 
    1. Remove the smog ventilation sensor.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

    2. Inspect the smog ventilation sensor.

      Refer to INSPECTION [06/2018 - ]

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]

    REPLACE SMOG VENTILATION SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]
