DTC B1418: Emission Gas Sensor Circuit [06/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Allow exhaust gas (HC, CO) to travel to the sensing portion of the smog ventilation sensor.
    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Data List.
    6. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Data List

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - ]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SMOG VENTILATION SENSOR - IG POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A5 smog ventilation sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-1 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      A5-1 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-5 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SMOG VENTILATION SENSOR - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G40 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-3 (DGS) - G40-25 (DGS) Always Below 1 Ω
      A5-4 (SG) - G40-2 (SG-2) Always Below 1 Ω
      A5-3 (DGS) or G40-25 (DGS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A5-4 (SG) or G40-2 (SG-2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT SMOG VENTILATION SENSOR 
    1. Remove the smog ventilation sensor.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

    2. Inspect the smog ventilation sensor.

      Refer to INSPECTION [06/2018 - ]

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - ]

    REPLACE SMOG VENTILATION SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]
