DTC B1500-13: Fuel Sender Circuit Open [08/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Fuel Input Fuel level input Min.: 0.00 L, Max.: 655.35 L or Unset
      • Fuel receiver gauge indicates F: 54.24 L
      • Fuel receiver gauge indicates 3/4: 45.45 L
      • Fuel receiver gauge indicates 1/2: 30.30 L
      • Fuel receiver gauge indicates 1/4: 15.15 L
      • Fuel receiver gauge indicates E: 6.06 L
      		 The detected value of the fuel sender gauge assembly is displayed.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List

      Fuel level data can be displayed on the Techstream A
      Fuel level data cannot be displayed on the Techstream B

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - ]

  3. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Inspect the fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [06/2018 - ]

      Result

    REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  4. INSPECT FUEL SUCTION TUBE WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY

    (Fuel Suction Tube with Pump and Gauge Assembly)
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N46-1 (FV) - A-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      N46-2 (FE) - A-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      N46-3 (FS) - A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N46-1 (FV) - N46-3 (FS)
      or
      A-3 - A-1      		 Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N46-1 (FV) - N46-2 (FE)
      or
      A-3 - A-2      		 Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

    2. Inspect the fuel sender gauge assembly.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL SUCTION TUBE WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G17 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N46-1 (FV) - G17-34 (FV) Always Below 1 Ω
      N46-3 (FS) - G17-33 (FR) Always Below 1 Ω
      N46-2 (FE) - G17-32 (FE) Always Below 1 Ω
      N46-1 (FV) or G17-34 (FV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N46-3 (FS) or G17-33 (FR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
