DTC C050C-14: Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Short to Ground or Open [06/2018 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      *a Front view of skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly)
      (to Rear Speed Sensor LH (Rear Axle Hub and Bearing Assembly LH))

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the b4 rear speed sensor LH (rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      b4-2 (LA+) - b4-1 (LA-) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

  2. INSPECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

      (to Sensor Side Connector)
      *c Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Vehicle Side Connector)
    2. Disconnect the b4 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the bN2 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      b4-1 (LA-) or bN2-2 (RL-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A40 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the bN2 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      bN2-2 (RL-) or A40-23 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  4. INSPECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

    2. Disconnect the b4 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the bN6 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      b4-1 (LA-) or bN6-2 (RL-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A40 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the bN6 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      bN6-2 (RL-) or A40-23 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. INSPECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

    2. Disconnect the b4 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the bN2 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      b4-1 (LA-) - bN2-2 (RL-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A40 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the bN2 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      bN2-2 (RL-) - A40-23 (RL-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. INSPECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

    2. Disconnect the b4 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the bN6 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      b4-1 (LA-) - bN6-2 (RL-) Always Below 1 Ω

    REPLACE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A40 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the bN6 skid control sensor wire LH (No. 2 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      bN6-2 (RL-) - A40-23 (RL-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG
