DTC C0506-1F: Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Intermittent [06/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER) 
    1. Remove the front speed sensor RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - ]

    2. Check the front speed sensor RH.

      OK

      The front speed sensor RH tip is free of oil and foreign matter.

      HINT: 

      If foreign matter of 1mm x 1mm or more is adhered to the front speed sensor RH, this DTC may be stored.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

  2. CHECK FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR RH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER) 
    1. Remove the component with the front speed sensor rotor RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    2. Check the front speed sensor rotor RH.

      OK

      The front speed sensor rotor RH is free of oil and foreign matter.

      HINT: 

      If foreign matter of 1mm x 1mm or more is adhered to the front speed sensor rotor RH, this DTC may be stored.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH AND FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    for front speed sensor RH: Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - ]

    for front speed sensor rotor RH (front axle hub sub-assembly RH): Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    Result:

  3. CLEAN FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR RH 
    1. Clean the front speed sensor rotor RH.
      NOTE:

      Do not use parts cleaner when cleaning the front speed sensor rotor RH.

  4. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Operate the Techstream to clear the codes. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB / Trouble Codes.

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Clear DTCs 

    4. Press the DTC clear button.

      Result

      Proceed to

  5. PERFORM DEALER MODE (SIGNAL CHECK) INSPECTION (SPEED SENSOR CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Using the Techstream, perform a Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection sensor check and check that speed sensor Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection items change from incomplete to complete. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB / Utility / Signal Check.

      Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE [06/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE [08/2020 - ]

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Signal Check

      OK

      Speed sensor Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection items change from incomplete to complete.

      Result

    REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH AND FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    for front speed sensor RH: Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - ]

    for front speed sensor rotor RH (front axle hub sub-assembly RH): Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    OK

  6. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Perform a road test under the same malfunction conditions recreated based on the Freeze Frame Data or customer problem analysis.
    4. Read the DTCs following the prompts on the Techstream. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB / Trouble Codes.

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Trouble Codes 

    5. Check if the same DTC is output.

      Result

      C0506-1F is output B

  7. CLEAN FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH 
    1. Clean the front speed sensor RH.
      NOTE:

      When cleaning the front speed sensor RH, make sure to clean the installation hole before installation.

  8. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    4. Press the DTC clear button.
