DTC C0500-14: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Short to Ground or Open [06/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE 
    1. Check if the vehicle is equipped with AVS.

      Result

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      (to Front Speed Sensor LH)

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A48 front speed sensor LH connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A48-1 (FL+) - A48-2 (FL-) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A40 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A48 front speed sensor LH connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A48-2 (FL-) or A40-7 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A40 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A48 front speed sensor LH connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A48-2 (FL-) - A40-7 (FL-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the z24 front speed sensor LH connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z24-1 (FL+) - z24-2 (FL-) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

  6. INSPECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE WITH SUSPENSION CONTROL LH 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

    2. Disconnect the z24 skid control sensor wire with suspension control LH connector.
    3. Disconnect the A42 skid control sensor wire with suspension control LH connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z24-2 (FL-) or A42-5 (FL-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE WITH SUSPENSION CONTROL LH

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE WITH SUSPENSION CONTROL LH - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A40 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A42 skid control sensor wire with suspension control LH connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A42-5 (FL-) or A40-7 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. INSPECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE WITH SUSPENSION CONTROL LH 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

    2. Disconnect the z24 skid control sensor wire with suspension control LH connector.
    3. Disconnect the A42 skid control sensor wire with suspension control LH connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z24-2 (FL-) - A42-5 (FL-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE WITH SUSPENSION CONTROL LH

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE WITH SUSPENSION CONTROL LH - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A40 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A42 skid control sensor wire with suspension control LH connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A42-5 (FL-) - A40-7 (FL-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2022 - ] 

    Result:
