Reassembly [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL CASE TAPERED ROLLER BEARING (REAR SIDE)
    1. Using SST and a press, install a new differential case tapered roller bearing (rear side inner race) to the differential case assembly.

      • SST: 09950-70010
        1. 09951-07150
      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the differential case tapered roller bearing (rear side inner race) cage when installing the differential case tapered roller bearing (rear side inner race).
      • Be sure to install the differential case tapered roller bearing (rear side inner race) so that there is no clearance between the differential case tapered roller bearing (rear side inner race) and the differential case assembly. If there is any clearance, the turning torque of the differential case assembly cannot be measured correctly.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, install a new shim and differential case tapered roller bearing (rear side outer race) to the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

        1. 09951-07150
      NOTE:

Be sure to install the differential case tapered roller bearing (rear side outer race) so that there is no clearance between the differential case tapered roller bearing (rear side outer race), shim and automatic transaxle case sub-assembly. If there is any clearance, the turning torque of the differential case assembly cannot be measured correctly.

  2. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL CASE TAPERED ROLLER BEARING (FRONT SIDE)
    1. Using SST and a press, install a new differential case tapered roller bearing (front side inner race) to the differential case assembly.

      • Do not damage the differential case tapered roller bearing (front side inner race) cage when installing the differential case tapered roller bearing (front side inner race).
      • Be sure to install the differential case tapered roller bearing (front side inner race) so that there is no clearance between the differential case tapered roller bearing (front side inner race) and the differential case assembly. If there is any clearance, the turning torque of the differential case assembly cannot be measured correctly.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, install a new differential case tapered roller bearing (front side outer race) to the transaxle housing.

If there is any clearance, the turning torque of the differential case assembly cannot be measured correctly.

  3. ADJUST DIFFERENTIAL SIDE BEARING PRELOAD
    1. Remove any remaining seal packing from the contact surfaces of the transaxle housing and automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.
    2. Install the differential case assembly to the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.
