Installation [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL TURBO OIL INLET PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      Do not install the gasket upside down.

    2. Install the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket.
    2. Temporarily install the No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts.
    3. Tighten the bolt and nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

      for bolt 

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      for nut 

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)

  3. INSTALL COMPRESSOR INLET ELBOW 
    1. Install a new gasket.
    2. Install the compressor inlet elbow with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 24 N*m (245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      The claws of the gasket must face the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly.

    2. Install a new gasket.
      NOTE:

      The protrusion of the gasket must face the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    3. Temporarily install the turbocharger sub-assembly with 4 new nuts.
    4. Tighten the 4 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

    5. Connect the vacuum transmitting hose assembly to the waste gate valve actuator with bracket assembly.

      NOTE:

      Connect the vacuum transmitting hose assembly until the bent portion of the pipe of the waste gate valve actuator with bracket assembly.

    6. Connect the air by-pass valve assembly connector and wire harness clamp to the turbocharger sub-assembly.
  5. CONNECT TURBO OIL INLET PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket on the union bolt side.
    2. Connect the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and union bolt.
    3. Tighten the 2 bolts and union bolt.

      for bolt 

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      for union bolt 

      Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      If the connecting part of the union bolt gasket is cracked, remove the connecting part.

  6. CONNECT NO. 1 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the No. 1 turbo water hose and No. 2 turbo water hose to the No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly and slide the 2 hose clips to secure the hoses.
      NOTE:

      The turbocharger sub-assembly may be damaged if the No. 1 turbo water hose and No. 2 turbo water hose are connected to the wrong locations.

      HINT: 

      • Make sure that the hose clips of the No. 1 turbo water hose and No. 2 turbo water hose are positioned as shown in the illustration.
      • Make sure that the paint mark of the No. 1 turbo water hose is positioned as shown in the illustration.
      • Make sure that the paint mark of the No. 2 turbo water hose is positioned in front of the vehicle.

  7. INSPECT WASTE GATE VALVE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET ASSEMBLY 

    See step  1

  8. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2014 - 09/2017] , or refer to INSTALLATION [09/2017 - 05/2018] , or refer to INSTALLATION [05/2018 - ]

  9. ADD ENGINE OIL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [10/2014 - 05/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [05/2018 - ]

  10. ADD COOLANT (for Intercooler) 

    See step  2

  11. INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [10/2014 - ]

  12. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Intercooler) 

    See step  1

  13. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [10/2014 - 05/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [05/2018 - ]

  14. EXHAUST GAS LEAK 

    See step   [10/2014 - 09/2017] , or see step   [09/2017 - ]
