Removal [10/2020 - 11/2021]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2020 - 11/2021]

  2. DISCONNECT BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP CONNECTOR (w/o Advanced Park) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  3. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL (w/ Advanced Park) 
    1. Wait 2 minutes after turning the ignition switch off to ensure that the skid control ECU is in sleep mode.
      NOTE:
      • When the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch is turned on even if the ignition switch is off, the brake control system activates. Therefore do not depress the brake pedal or open/close the doors until the reservoir level switch connector is disconnected.
      • Do not operate the electric parking brake switch assembly when the electric parking brake system is in rear brake pad replacement mode.
    2. Disconnect the connector from the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly

    3. Return the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly to its original position.

      HINT: 

      Do this to prevent brake fluid leakage.

    4. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2020 - 11/2021] 

    5. In order to prevent pressurized brake fluid in the accumulator from being applied to the brake calipers, depress the brake pedal 40 times or more to return the pressurized brake fluid in the accumulator back to the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly.
    6. Check that the brake pedal cannot be further depressed.
  4. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2017 - 10/2023]

  5. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD 
    WARNING:

    Be careful not to get pinched by the disc brake cylinder assembly or other parts when removing the rear disc brake pads.

    NOTE:

    Be sure to inspect the rear disc when replacing the rear disc brake pads with new ones.

    Refer to INSPECTION [10/2017 - 10/2023]

    1. for RH side:

      1. Disconnect the pad wear indicator wire assembly RH connector from the rear speed sensor RH.
      2. Disconnect the pad wear indicator wire assembly RH from the 4 clamps of the rear wheel bearing dust deflector.
      3. Disconnect the bleeder plug cap portion of the pad wear indicator wire assembly RH from the rear disc brake bleeder plug.
    2. While pressing the area (A), push the hole pin (B) toward the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH, and remove the pin hold clip.

    3. While pressing the area (A), remove the No. 1 anti-rattle spring and 2 hole pins (B).

    4. Remove the anti-squeal spring.

      Remove the 2 rear disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

    6. for RH side:

      1. Remove the pad wear indicator retainer and pad wear indicator wire assembly RH from the rear disc brake pad.
  6. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM 
    1. Remove the No. 1 and No. 2 anti-squeal shims from each of the rear disc brake pads.

      *1 Rear Disc Brake Pad
      *2 No. 1 Anti-Squeal Shim
      *3 No. 2 Anti-Squeal Shim
      *4 Inner Anti-Rattle Spring
    2. Remove the inner anti-rattle springs from each of the rear disc brake pads.
