Installation [12/2017 - 09/2018]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBO INSULATOR STAY 
    1. Install the No. 1 turbo insulator stay to the cylinder block sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  2. INSTALL NO. 5 ENGINE COVER 
    1. Install the No. 5 engine cover to the cylinder block sub-assembly.
  3. INSTALL NO. 4 ENGINE COVER 
    1. Install the No. 4 engine cover to the cylinder block sub-assembly.
  4. INSTALL NO. 2 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket as shown in the illustration.

      *a Protrusion
      NOTE:
      • The claws of the gasket must face the No. 2 turbo water pipe sub-assembly.
      • Install the gasket so that its protrusion faces down as shown in the illustration.
    2. Install the No. 2 turbo water pipe sub-assembly to the No. 2 turbocharger sub-assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket as shown in the illustration.

      *a Protrusion
      NOTE:
      • The claws of the gasket must face the No. 2 turbo water pipe sub-assembly.
      • Install the gasket so that its protrusion faces down as shown in the illustration.
    2. Install the No. 2 turbo water pipe sub-assembly to the No. 1 turbocharger sub-assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 AIR INLET DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket to the No. 2 air inlet duct sub-assembly with the protrusion of the gasket.

      NOTE:

      Check that the gasket is securely fitted into the groove on the No. 2 air inlet duct sub-assembly.

    2. Install the No. 2 air inlet duct sub-assembly to the No. 1 turbocharger sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  7. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR INLET DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket to the No. 1 air inlet duct sub-assembly with the protrusion of the gasket.

      NOTE:

      Check that the gasket is securely fitted into the groove on the No. 1 air inlet duct sub-assembly.

    2. Install the No. 1 air inlet duct sub-assembly to the No. 2 turbocharger sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  8. INSTALL NO. 2 COMPRESSOR OUTLET ELBOW 
    1. Install a new gasket to the No. 2 compressor outlet elbow.

      HINT: 

      The claws of the gasket must face the No. 2 compressor outlet elbow.

    2. Install the No. 2 compressor outlet elbow to the No. 1 turbocharger sub-assembly.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  9. INSTALL NO. 1 COMPRESSOR OUTLET ELBOW 
    1. Install a new gasket to the No. 1 compressor outlet elbow.

      HINT: 

      The claws of the gasket must face the No. 1 compressor outlet elbow.

    2. Install the No. 1 compressor outlet elbow to the No. 2 turbocharger sub-assembly.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  10. INSTALL TURBO OIL INLET PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install a new gasket.

    2. Install the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly LH with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Do not install the gasket upside down.

  11. INSTALL TURBO OIL INLET PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Install a new gasket.

    2. Install the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly RH with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Do not install the gasket upside down.

  12. INSTALL NO. 2 TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket to the cylinder head sub-assembly.
    2. Temporarily install the No. 2 turbocharger sub-assembly with the 3 nuts and bolt.
    3. Install a new gasket to the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly RH.

      HINT: 

      The claws of the gasket must face the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly RH.

    4. Install a new gasket to the union bolt.
    5. Temporarily install the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly RH with the union bolt and 2 bolts.
    6. Tighten the 3 nuts.

      Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

    7. Tighten the 2 bolts and union bolt.

      for union bolt 

      Torque: 35 N.m (357 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf) 

      for bolt 

      Torque: 14.5 N.m (148 kgf/cm, 11 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      If the connecting part of the union bolt gasket is cracked, remove the connecting part.

    8. Install the compressor elbow stay to the No. 1 compressor outlet elbow and cylinder block sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

    9. Install the No. 1 air inlet duct sub-assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  13. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket to the cylinder head sub-assembly.
    2. Temporarily install the No. 1 turbocharger sub-assembly with the 3 nuts and bolt.
    3. Install a new gasket to the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly LH.

      HINT: 

      The claws of the gasket must face the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly LH.

    4. Install a new gasket to the union bolt.
    5. Temporarily install the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly LH with the union bolt and 2 bolts.
    6. Tighten the 3 nuts.

      Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

    7. Tighten the 2 bolts and union bolt.

      for union bolt 

      Torque: 35 N.m (357 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf) 

      for bolt 

      Torque: 14.5 N.m (148 kgf/cm, 11 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      If the connecting part of the union bolt gasket is cracked, remove the connecting part.

    8. Install the turbo water pipe stay to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH and No. 2 turbo water pipe sub-assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

    9. Install the No. 2 air inlet duct sub-assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  14. INSTALL NO. 5 TURBO INSULATOR 
    1. Install the No. 5 turbo insulator to the cylinder head sub-assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  15. INSTALL NO. 3 TURBO INSULATOR 
    1. Install the No. 3 turbo insulator with the 2 bolts and nut.

      Torque: 25 N.m (255 kgf/cm, 18 ft.lbf) 

  16. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBO INSULATOR 
    1. Install the No. 1 turbo insulator with the 2 bolts and nut.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  17. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR HOSE 
    1. Install the 2 hose clamps and 2 No. 1 air hoses to the No. 1 compressor outlet elbow and No. 2 compressor outlet elbow.
      NOTE:

      Before installing the No. 1 air hose, No. 1 compressor outlet elbow and No. 2 compressor outlet elbow connections, clean off any oil.

    2. for Bank 1:
      1. Tighten the hose clamp.

        Torque: 6.3 N.m (64 kgf/cm, 56 in.lbf)

        HINT: 

        Make sure the hose clamp is oriented as shown in the illustration.

    3. for Bank 2:
      1. Tighten the hose clamp.

        Torque: 6.3 N.m (64 kgf/cm, 56 in.lbf)

        *b Vehicle Left Side
        *c 30°

        HINT: 

        Make sure the hose clamp is oriented as shown in the illustration.

  18. CONNECT VACUUM HOSE 
    1. for Bank 1:

      Attach the clamp to connect the vacuum hose to the No. 1 air inlet duct sub-assembly.

    2. for Bank 2:

      Attach the 2 clamps to connect the vacuum hose to the No. 2 air inlet duct sub-assembly.

  19. CONNECT NO. 2 PCV TUBE 
    1. Install a new gasket to the No. 2 air inlet duct sub-assembly with the protrusion of the gasket oriented as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      Check that the gasket is securely fitted into the groove on the No. 2 air inlet duct sub-assembly.

    2. Install the No. 2 PCV tube to the No. 2 air inlet duct sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  20. CONNECT NO. 1 PCV TUBE 
    1. Install a new gasket to the No. 1 air inlet duct sub-assembly with the protrusion of the gasket oriented as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      Check that the gasket is securely fitted into the groove on the No. 1 air inlet duct sub-assembly.

    2. Install the No. 1 PCV tube to the No. 1 air inlet duct sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  21. CONNECT NO. 2 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the No. 3 turbo water hose and No. 4 turbo water hose to the No. 2 turbo water pipe sub-assembly and slide the 2 clamps to secure the hoses.
      NOTE:

      Be sure to correctly connect the No. 3 turbo water hose and No. 4 turbo water hose. Incorrect installation may damage the turbocharger sub-assembly.

      HINT: 

      Make sure the paint mark on the pipe side and the paint mark on the hose side are the same color.

  22. CONNECT NO. 1 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the No. 1 turbo water hose and No. 2 turbo water hose to the No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly and slide the 2 clamps to secure the hoses.
      NOTE:

      Be sure to correctly connect the No. 1 turbo water hose and No. 2 turbo water hose. Incorrect installation may damage the turbocharger sub-assembly.

      HINT: 

      Make sure the paint mark on the pipe side and the paint mark on the hose side are the same color.

  23. INSTALL ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE 
    1. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring.
    2. Install the O-ring to the engine oil level dipstick guide.
    3. Install the engine oil level dipstick guide with the bolt.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

    4. Install the engine oil level dipstick to the engine oil level dipstick guide.
  24. INSTALL CONVERTER ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2017 - ]

  25. INSTALL CONVERTER ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2017 - ]

  26. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH (for 2WD) 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2017 - 09/2018]

  27. INSTALL ENGINE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2017 - 09/2018]

  28. ADD ENGINE OIL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  29. ADD COOLANT (for Intercooler) 

    See step  5

  30. INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  31. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Intercooler) 

    See step  1

  32. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  33. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 

    See step  11
