Brake Warning Light Remains ON [09/2018 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. PRE-CHECK
    1. Check that all of the following conditions required for the brake system warning light (red indicator) to turn off are met:
      1. The ABS warning light are not illuminated.

        HINT:

If the ABS warning light remains illuminated, make sure that the conditions required for the ABS warning light to turn off are met.

Refer to ABS Warning Light Remains ON [09/2018 - 10/2023]

      2. The brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly is not low.

    2. Remove the reservoir filler cap and strainer.
    3. Disconnect the A18 brake fluid level warning switch (brake master cylinder reservoir assembly) connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      HINT:

A float is located inside the reservoir. Its position can be changed by increasing or decreasing the level of brake fluid.

      Standard Resistance

Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A18-1 (+) - A18-2 (E) Switch off (Float up) 10 kΩ or higher
Switch on (Float down) Below 1 Ω

      HINT:

If there is no problem after finishing the above check, adjust the brake fluid level to the MAX level.
