Removal [05/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [05/2023 - ]

  2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [05/2023 - ]

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [05/2023 - ]

  4. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    Remove any dirt or foreign matter on the fuel tube connector and fuel pipe before performing this work.

    1. Remove the fuel pipe clamp from fuel tube connector.

    2. Check that there is no dirt or other foreign matter around the fuel tube connector before disconnecting it. Clean the joint if necessary.
    3. Disconnect the No. 2 fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

      *b Fuel Tube Connector
      *c Nylon Tube
      *d O-ring
      *e Fuel Pipe
      Pinch
      Pull

      Refer to PRECAUTION [05/2023 - ]

    4. Detach the 2 claws to remove the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp.
      NOTE:

      Do not reuse the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp.

    5. Remove the No. 2 fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel pipe (for Vehicle side).

      Refer to PRECAUTION [05/2023 - ]

  5. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

  6. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSS MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [09/2023 - ]

  7. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSS MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [09/2023 - ]

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER WITH ELEMENT ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 27 [09/2023 - ]

  9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER WITH ELEMENT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28 [09/2023 - ]

  10. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [09/2023 - ]

  11. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SOUND CREATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [09/2023 - ]

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [09/2023 - ]

  13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE CLAMP 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [09/2023 - ]

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [09/2023 - ]

  15. DISENGAGE ENGINE WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19 [09/2023 - ]

  16. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER 

    See step  4

  17. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 [09/2023 - ]

  18. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21 [05/2023 - 09/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 25 [09/2023 - ]

  19. REMOVE PURGE VALVE (PURGE VSV) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  20. REMOVE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly and No. 2 fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [05/2023 - ]

      NOTE:

  21. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly with the port fuel injector assemblies.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to drop the port fuel injector assemblies when removing the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

  22. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly with the port fuel injector assemblies.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to drop the port fuel injector assemblies when removing the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

  23. REMOVE NO. 1 DELIVERY PIPE SPACER 
    1. Remove the 4 No. 1 delivery pipe spacers from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  24. REMOVE INJECTOR VIBRATION INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 8 injector vibration insulators from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  25. REMOVE PORT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 3 clamps and disconnect the No. 6 engine wire from the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

      *A for Bank 1
      *B for Bank 2
      *1 Fuel Delivery Pipe Sub-assembly
      *2 No. 2 Fuel Delivery Pipe Sub-assembly
      *3 No. 6 Engine Wire
      *4 No. 7 Engine Wire
    2. Disengage the 3 clamps and disconnect the No. 7 engine wire from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.
    3. Remove the 8 port fuel injector assemblies from the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly and No. 2 fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the port fuel injector assemblies are to be reused, reinstall them to the same cylinder they were removed from.

    4. Disconnect the 8 port fuel injector assembly connectors.

    5. Remove the O-ring from each port fuel injector assembly.

    6. For reinstallation, attach a tag or label with the corresponding cylinder number to each port fuel injector assembly.
      NOTE:

      Protect the port fuel injector assemblies by covering them with plastic bags.
