Removal [03/2017 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [03/2017 - 05/2023]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  3. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

  4. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSS MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  5. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSS MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER WITH ELEMENT ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER WITH ELEMENT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24

  8. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE 
    1. Remove the bolt, hose clamp and intake air connector pipe.

  9. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SOUND CREATOR 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, hose clamp and intake air sound creator.

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE 
    1. Detach the air cleaner hose clamp.

    2. Remove a bolt.
    3. Slide the clamp and remove the No. 2 intake air connector pipe from the No. 3 intake air connector pipe.
  11. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE CLAMP 
    1. Detach the clamp and remove the air cleaner hose clamp.

  12. REMOVE PURGE VSV 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  13. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  15. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 4 nuts.

      Connector Fuel Tube Sub-assembly
    2. Detach the 4 clamps.
    3. Disconnect the 17 connectors.
    4. Detach the fuel tube sub-assembly from the engine wire.
    5. Remove the 2 bolts and nut.

    6. Detach the 4 clamps.
    7. Disconnect the 5 connectors.
    8. Remove the 2 bolts.

    9. Detach the 6 clamps.
    10. Disconnect the 7 connectors.
  16. DISCONNECT NO. 5 ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Detach the 4 clamps to disconnect the No. 5 engine wire from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  17. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Detach the 2 clamps and disconnect the vacuum hose sub-assembly from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  18. REMOVE FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE 
    1. Slide the clip and remove the fuel vapor feed hose from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  19. DISCONNECT PCV HOSE 
    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the PCV hose from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  20. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 injector driver brackets from the intake air surge tank assembly, cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH and cylinder head cover sub-assembly.

  21. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 3 water by-pass hose from the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly.

      *1 Heater Water Inlet Hose
      *2 Heater Water Outlet Hose
      *3 No. 3 Water By-pass Hose
      *4 Water By-pass Hose
      *5 No. 5 Water By-pass Hose
    2. Slide the clip and disconnect the water by-pass hose from the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly.
    3. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose from the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly.
    4. Slide the clip and disconnect the heater water outlet hose from the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly.
    5. Slide the clip and disconnect the heater water inlet hose from the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly.
    6. Remove the 2 bolts to water by-pass pipe sub-assembly from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  22. REMOVE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  23. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  24. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22

  25. REMOVE NO. 1 DELIVERY PIPE SPACER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23

  26. REMOVE INJECTOR VIBRATION INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24

  27. REMOVE PORT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 25

  28. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt to disconnect the No. 1 fuel pipe sub-assembly from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  29. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 3 wire harness clamp brackets.

  30. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt to disconnect the wire harness bracket from the intake air surge tank assembly.

    2. Remove the 8 bolts and 2 nuts.

    3. Remove the intake air surge tank assembly from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
    4. Remove the 2 No. 1 intake manifold to head gaskets from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
