Pattern Select Switch EV Mode Circuit [06/2018 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. ASK ABOUT VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check if a buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on the multi-information display when attempting to enter EV drive mode.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No buzzer sounded and no message was displayed on multi-information display A
      A buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on multi-information display B

      HINT: 

      If a buzzer sounds and a message is displayed on the multi-information display, one or more of the EV drive mode entry conditions have not been met.

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

      CAN Bus Check 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [06/2018 - ]

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    5. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output A
      DTCs are output B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2018 - 08/2021]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2021 - ]

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (EV MODE, EV MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / EV Mode, EV Mode Switch.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      EV Mode
      EV Mode Switch
    5. Read the values displayed on the Techstream.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The display changes according to the EV drive mode switch operation A
      The display does not change according to the EV drive mode switch operation B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLES. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [06/2018 - ]

  5. INSPECT EV DRIVE MODE SWITCH (NO. 3 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [06/2018 - ]

    REPLACE EV DRIVE MODE SWITCH (NO. 3 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EV DRIVE MODE SWITCH (NO. 3 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the G45 EV drive mode switch (NO. 3 combination switch assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to EV Drive Mode Switch (NO. 3 Combination Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G45-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the G45 EV drive mode switch (NO. 3 combination switch assembly) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - EV DRIVE MODE SWITCH (NO. 3 COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the G60 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the G45 EV drive mode switch (NO. 3 combination switch assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to EV Drive Mode Switch (NO. 3 Combination Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G60-15 (EVSW) - G45-5 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      G60-15 (EVSW) or G45-5 (S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the G45 EV drive mode switch (NO. 3 combination switch assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the G60 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022]
