Power Trunk Lid does not Operate Using Kick Sensor Operation [06/2018 - 08/2021]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Clear DTCs 

    5. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC is not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2018 - 08/2021] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Back Door / Data List.
    2. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [06/2018 - 08/2021]

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Data List

    REPLACE KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [06/2018 - 08/2021]

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Data List

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the S5 kick door control sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the 3H instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S5-2 (LIN) - 3H-25 Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)

    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3H-25 - MB-16(LIN2) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021] 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - AUXILIARY BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S5 kick door control sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S5-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S5-1 (B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the R7 luggage closer motor assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S5-3 (KSOT) - R7-24 (KSIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      S5-3 (KSOT) or R7-24 (KSIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the luggage closer motor assembly with the connector(s) still connected.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021]

    2. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.

      Tester Connection R7-24 (KSIN) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 50 ms./DIV.

    REPLACE KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]

    REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 08/2021]
