DTC B2250: PBD/PTL Closer Operation [06/2018 - 08/2021]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Back Door / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Clear DTCs 

    6. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B2250 is not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [06/2018 - ]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY - LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the R7 luggage closer motor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the R18 luggage door closer assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R7-16 (CSG) - R18-4 (CPSE) Always Below 1 Ω
      R7-17 (CS2) - R18-9 (CPS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      R7-18 (CS1) - R18-2 (CPS1) Always Below 1 Ω
      R7-19 (CSV) - R18-3 (CPS+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R7-16 (CSG) or R18-4 (CPSE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R7-17 (CS2) or R18-9 (CPS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R7-18 (CS1) or R18-2 (CPS1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R7-19 (CSV) or R18-3 (CPS+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the R7 luggage closer motor assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R18-4 (CPSE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R18-2 (CPS1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG), power trunk lid not operate 7 V or higher
      R18-3 (CPS+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG), power trunk lid not operate 7 V or higher
      R18-9 (CPS2) - Body ground Power switch on (IG), power trunk lid not operate 7 V or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect R18-8 (M+) and R18-1 (M-) from the luggage door closer assembly connectors.
    2. Reconnect the R18 luggage door closer assembly connector.
    3. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      NOTE:

      Do not operate any other functions until this inspection is finished.

      Tester Connection Condition Tool Setting Specified Condition
      R18-2 (CPS1) - Body ground
      • Auxiliary battery positive (+) → R18-8 (M+)
      • Auxiliary battery negative (-) → R18-1 (M-)
      2 V/DIV., 10 ms./DIV. Pulse generation
      (waveform 1)
      R18-9 (CPS2) - Body ground
      • Auxiliary battery positive (+) → R18-8 (M+)
      • Auxiliary battery negative (-) → R18-1 (M-)
      2 V/DIV., 10 ms./DIV. Pulse generation
      (waveform 2)
