DTC B2282: Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction; DTC B2283: Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction [06/2018 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED METER) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed Min.: 0, Max.: 255 Almost same as actual vehicle speed (Speedometer tester) -

      HINT: 

      Using a speedometer tester, check the actual vehicle speed and the vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream.

      Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester.

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Data List.
    2. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Power Source Control > Data List

      Vehicle Speed Signal Vehicle being driven or stopped Stop or Run Stop: Vehicle stopped
      Run: Vehicle being driven at 5 km/h (3 mph) or more

      The Techstream display changes correctly in response to the vehicle condition.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G17 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the G47 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the G14 navigation ECU connector.*1
    4. Disconnect the G5*2 or G6*3 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    5. Disconnect the A54 skid control ECU (brake booster with master cylinder assembly) connector.
    6. Disconnect the G9*3 or G11*2 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
      1. *1: w/ Navigation System
      2. *2: for 12.3 Inch Display Type
      3. *3: for 8 Inch Display Type
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G47-19 (SPD) - G17-19 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω
      G47-19 (SPD) or G17-19 (+S) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Connect the G47 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Connect the G17 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      HINT: 

      The wavelength becomes shorter as the vehicle speed increases.
