Monitor Description

The ECM and grille shutter ECU send and receive signals via CAN communication.

If a communication error occurs between the ECM and grille shutter ECU, the ECM stores this DTC.

DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area MIL Memory Note
U0284-87 Lost Communication with Active Grille Air Shutter Module "A" Missing Message All of the following conditions are met for 10.6 seconds or more (1 trip detection logic):
  • Power switch on (IG)
  • Auxiliary battery voltage is 10 V or higher
  • No communication between ECM and grille shutter ECU
  • CAN communication system
  • Swing grille actuator assembly (grille shutter ECU)
  • ECM
