DTC P0012-00: Camshaft Position "A" - Timing Over-Retarded Bank 1 [08/2021 - ]: Procedure

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
3. Turn the Techstream on.
4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
5. Read the DTCs.

   Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

   Result

   Result	Proceed to
   DTC P0012-00 is output	A
   DTC P0012-00 and other DTCs are output	B

   HINT: 

   If any DTCs other than P0012-00 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

Result: 

B 

GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2021 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2022 - ]

1. Remove the cam timing control motor with EDU assembly.

   Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

2. Check if the eccentric shaft of the camshaft timing gear assembly rotates smoothly.
   NOTE:

   If the camshaft is at a position where a valve is about to open, the eccentric shaft may become difficult to rotate.

   OK

   Rotates smoothly.

   HINT: 

   Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the camshaft timing gear assembly, or removing the cam timing control motor with EDU assembly.

   Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2020 - ]

   Result

   NG

NG 

REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING GEAR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

1. Replace the cam timing control motor with EDU assembly.

   Refer to REMOVAL [08/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

   HINT: 

   Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the cam timing control motor with EDU assembly.

   Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2020 - ]
