Installation [10/2015 - 08/2019]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL HV TRANSAXLE MASS DAMPER 
    1. for LH Side:
      1. Install the HV transaxle mass damper to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

        Torque: 13.5 N*m (138 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) 

    2. for RH Side:
      1. Install the HV transaxle mass damper and a new gasket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

        Torque: 39.2 N*m (400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Install the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP 
    1. Install the No. 1 oil cooler tube clamp to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 19.5 N*m (199 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

  4. TEMPORARILY INSTALL NO. 3 MOTOR COOLING PIPE 
    1. Temporarily install the No. 3 motor cooling pipe and a new gasket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the oil cooler union bolt.
  5. TEMPORARILY INSTALL OUTLET OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the union and a new gasket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

      Torque: 34.3 N*m (350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Temporarily install the outlet oil cooler tube sub-assembly to the union with the flare nut.
    3. Install the No. 2 oil cooler tube clamp to the No. 1 oil cooler tube clamp with the bolt.

      Torque: 8.2 N*m (84 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf) 

  6. INSTALL NO. 3 MOTOR COOLING PIPE 
    1. Tighten the oil cooler union bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

  7. INSTALL OUTLET OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a 17 mm union nut wrench, tighten the flare nut of the outlet oil cooler tube sub-assembly.

      Specified Tightening Torque 

      Torque: 34.3 N*m (350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT: 

  8. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Install the wire harness clamp bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 19.1 N*m (195 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

  9. INSTALL NO. 2 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Install the No. 2 transmission control cable bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  10. INSTALL FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Install the front engine mounting bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf) 

  11. INSTALL HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Clean and degrease the bolt hole of the engine assembly and hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    2. Make sure that the knock pins are installed to the engine assembly.

      *1 Knock Pin
    3. Align the knock pins with the holes in the hybrid transaxle assembly and, while keeping the contact surfaces of the engine assembly and hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly in close contact with one another, temporarily install the bolt.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply grease to the inner splines or input shaft.
      • Make sure that the wire harness or similar items are not pinched between the contact surfaces.
      • Do not use excessive force when installing the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
      • Make sure to align the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly so that the input shaft of the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly will be inserted straight into the inner splines of the transmission input damper assembly.
      • When inserting the input shaft of the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly into the inner splines of the transmission input damper assembly, do not shake the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly excessively.
      • When installing the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly to the engine assembly, make sure to securely fit the knock pins into the knock pin holes.
    4. Install the 5 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Bolt Length 

      • for Bolt (A) : 55 mm (2.17 in.)
      • for Bolt (B) : 65 mm (2.56 in.)
    5. Install the 4 bolts.

      Bolt (A) 

      Torque: 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf) 

      Bolt (B) 

      Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT: 

      Bolt Length 

      • for Bolt (A) : 55 mm (2.17 in.)
      • for Bolt (B) : 33 mm (1.30 in.)
    6. Install a new bolt.

      Torque: 46 N*m (469 kgf*cm, 34 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT: 

      Bolt Length 

      41 mm (1.61 in.)

  12. INSTALL FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER 
    1. Install the flywheel housing under cover to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

  13. INSTALL NO. 3 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE COVER 
    1. Install the No. 3 automatic transmission case cover to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 2 bolts and a new clip.

      Torque: 8.4 N*m (86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf) 

    2. Engage the clamp.
  14. INSTALL MOTOR CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Install the motor cable bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Engage the clamp.
  15. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Install the rear engine mounting bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) 

  16. INSTALL MANIFOLD STAY 
    1. Install the manifold stay to the rear engine mounting bracket and exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) with the bolt and nut.

      Torque: 34 N*m (347 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf) 

  17. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 
    1. Install the rear engine mounting insulator to the rear engine mounting bracket with the bolt.

      Torque: 71 N*m (724 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      If tightening the bolt before installation of the front frame assembly, ensure that the edge of the protrusion of the bracket is within the width of the rib.

  18. INSTALL FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 
    1. Install the front engine mounting insulator to the front engine mounting bracket with the bolt.

      Torque: 87 N*m (887 kgf*cm, 64 ft.*lbf) 

  19. CONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Engage the 8 clamps to connect the engine wire to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
    2. Connect the motor temperature sensor connector.
    3. Connect the generator resolver sensor (generator temperature) connector.
    4. Connect the shift lever position sensor connector.
    5. Connect the motor resolver sensor connector.
  20. INSTALL OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP 
    1. Install the oil cooler tube clamp to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 19.5 N*m (199 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

  21. INSTALL NO. 2 MOTOR COOLING PIPE 
    1. Temporarily install the No. 2 motor cooling pipe to the union with the flare nut.
    2. Install the No. 2 oil cooler tube clamp to the oil cooler tube clamp with the bolt.

      Torque: 8.2 N*m (84 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf) 

    3. Using a 17 mm union nut wrench, tighten the flare nut of the No. 2 motor cooling pipe.

      Torque: 34.3 N*m (350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT: 

  22. CONNECT INLET MOTOR HOSE 
    1. While holding the area shown in the illustration, connect the outlet motor hose to the No. 3 motor cooling pipe and slide the clip to secure it.

      NOTE:

      Do not install the outlet motor hose while holding the net protector. If the outlet motor hose is installed while holding the net protector, the outlet motor hose may crack and hybrid transaxle fluid will leak.

    2. While holding the area shown in the illustration, connect the inlet motor hose to the No. 2 motor cooling pipe and slide the clip to secure it.
      NOTE:

      Do not install the inlet motor hose while holding the net protector. If the inlet motor hose is installed while holding the net protector, the inlet motor hose may crack and hybrid transaxle fluid will leak.

  23. CONNECT NO. 1 MOTOR COOLING HOSE 
    1. While holding the area shown in the illustration, connect the No. 3 motor cooling hose to the outlet oil cooler tube sub-assembly and slide the clip to secure it.

      NOTE:

      Do not install the No. 3 motor cooling hose while holding the net protector. If the No. 3 motor cooling hose is installed while holding the net protector, the No. 3 motor cooling hose may crack and hybrid transaxle fluid will leak.

    2. While holding the area shown in the illustration, connect the No. 1 motor cooling hose to the inlet oil cooler tube sub-assembly and slide the clip to secure it.
      NOTE:

      Do not install the No. 1 motor cooling hose while holding the net protector. If the No. 1 motor cooling hose is installed while holding the net protector, the No. 1 motor cooling hose may crack and hybrid transaxle fluid will leak.

  24. INSTALL FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [08/2016 - 08/2019]

  25. CONNECT REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [08/2016 - 08/2019]

  26. CONNECT FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 [08/2016 - 08/2019]

  27. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH 
    1. Install the engine mounting insulator LH to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Install the bolt and nut.

      Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the generator cable with the bolt.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

  28. REMOVE ENGINE SUPPORT BRIDGE 
    1. Remove SST from the vehicle body.
      NOTE:

      Prevent SST from contacting the vehicle body or windshield glass.

  29. REMOVE ENGINE HANGER 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 engine hanger from the engine assembly.
    2. Remove the bolt and No. 1 engine hanger from the engine assembly.
    3. Install the wire harness clamp bracket to the engine assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 16.5 N*m (168 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf) 

    4. Engage the clamp.
  30. INSTALL FUEL PUMP PROTECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [10/2015 - 03/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [03/2018 - ]

  31. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Install the wire harness clamp bracket to the engine assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 13 N*m (133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Engage the 3 wire harness clamps.
    3. Engage the hose clamp.
    4. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor (for Bank 1) connector.
  32. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  33. INSTALL STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [08/2016 - 08/2019]

  34. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  35. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  36. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  37. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2015 - ]

  38. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  39. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  40. CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  41. INSTALL FRONT NO. 3 EXHAUST PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23

  42. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 80

  43. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 82

  44. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 83

  45. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD RH

  49. CONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE

  50. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the No. 2 transmission control cable bracket, motor cable bracket and No. 3 transmission control cable bracket.
    2. Install a new clip to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.
    3. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.

      NOTE:
      • Make sure that the claws (A) of the clip are securely fit into the bracket holes.
      • Make sure that the transmission control cable assembly is securely installed inside of the claws (B) of the clip.
    4. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the control shaft lever with the nut.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  51. INSTALL BATTERY BRACKET REINFORCEMENT 
    1. Install the battery bracket reinforcement to the vehicle body with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

  52. INSTALL BATTERY CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 56

  53. INSTALL INVERTER TRAY BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 57

  54. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2015 - ]

  55. INSTALL INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to INSTALLATION [08/2016 - ]

  56. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [10/2015 - 03/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [03/2018 - ]

  57. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Engine) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  58. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [10/2015 - 03/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [03/2018 - ]
