Removal [08/2016 - 12/2017]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - 12/2017]

  3. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER LH 

    See step  3

  4. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  5. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose LH from the rear upper control arm assembly LH.

  6. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - 08/2019]

  8. SEPARATE REAR NO. 1 SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the rear No. 1 skid control sensor wire LH.

    2. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the rear No. 1 skid control sensor wire LH connector from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.

  9. SEPARATE REAR NO. 1 SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  10. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE LH (w/o AVS) 
    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and rear No. 1 skid control sensor wire LH.
  11. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (w/o AVS) 
    1. Disconnect the connector and disengage the 2 clamps.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and rear No. 1 skid control sensor wire RH.
  12. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE LH (w/ AVS) 
    1. Disconnect the 3 connectors.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, 4 nuts and rear No. 2 skid control sensor wire LH.
  13. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (w/ AVS) 
    1. Disconnect the 3 connectors and disengage the 3 clamps.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, 4 nuts and rear No. 2 skid control sensor wire RH.
  14. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  4

  15. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  16. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR 

    See step  3

  17. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH 

    See step  5

  18. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  19. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR LH 

    See step  7

  20. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  21. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  7

  22. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  23. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using a transmission jack and attachment, support the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the bolt, nut and rear lower suspension member stopper LH.

    3. Using a transmission jack and a wooden block, support the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.

    4. Remove the nut (A) and spacer.
    5. Remove the bolt (B), nut and rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly LH from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH and rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

    6. Temporarily install the rear lower suspension member stopper LH with the bolt and nut.

  24. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  25. SEPARATE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and nut and separate the rear upper control arm assembly LH from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.
      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

  26. SEPARATE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  27. SEPARATE NO. 3 FLOOR WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and disengage the 3 clamps to separate the No. 3 floor wire from rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  28. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using an engine lifter, 2 attachments and 2 wooden blocks or equivalent tools, support the rear suspension member sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
      WARNING:
      • The rear suspension member sub-assembly is a very heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.
      • If the rear suspension member sub-assembly is not securely supported, it may drop, resulting in serious injury.

      NOTE:

      Use attachments and wooden blocks to keep the rear suspension member sub-assembly level.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts, 2 rear lower suspension braces, rear lower suspension member stopper LH and rear lower suspension member stopper RH.
    3. Slowly lower the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the rear suspension member sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed to the vehicle.

  29. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER UPPER STOPPER 
    1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member upper stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  30. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER 
    1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member rear upper stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  31. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  2

  32. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  33. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion rib.
      NOTE:

      Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.

    2. Install SST as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      Apply grease to the threads and tip of the SST center bolt before use.

    3. Using SST, remove the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion while applying grease into the clearance between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      • SST: 09830-10010

      • SST: 09950-40011 
        1. 09951-04020
        2. 09952-04010
        3. 09954-04010

      NOTE:
      • Set the claws of SST onto the rear suspension member sub-assembly securely as shown in the illustration.
      • Be careful as the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion may fly out.
      • The rear suspension member front body mounting cushion cannot be reused.

    4. Remove SST and the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion (LH Side) from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  34. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  35. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNT CUSHION LH 
    1. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member rear body mount cushion LH rib.
      NOTE:

      Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.

    2. Install SST as shown in the illustration.

    3. Using SST, remove the rear suspension member rear body mount cushion LH while applying grease into the clearance between the rear suspension member rear body mount cushion LH and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

    4. Remove SST and the rear suspension member rear body mount cushion LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  36. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNT CUSHION RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  37. REMOVE HOLE PLUG 
    1. Remove the 13 hole plugs from the rear suspension member sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
