Installation [10/2017 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL REAR ENGINE OIL SEAL 
    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new rear engine oil seal.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, tap in the rear engine oil seal.
      • SST: 09223-15030 
      • SST: 09950-70010

      *1 Rear Engine Oil Seal Retainer
      *a Oil Seal Protrusion Height

      Oil Seal Protrusion Height

      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      NOTE:
      • Keep the lip free of foreign matter.
      • Do not tap in the rear engine oil seal at an angle.
  2. INSTALL FLYWHEEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.
      • SST: 09213-70011 
        1. 09213-70020
      • SST: 09330-00021

    2. Clean the 8 bolt holes.
    3. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of 8 new bolts.

      Adhesive

      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    4. Install a new 8 bolts in several steps in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 83 N.m (846 kgf/cm, 61 ft.lbf)

      NOTE:

      Do not start the engine for at least 1 hour after installing the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly.

  3. INSTALL TRANSMISSION INPUT DAMPER COVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.
      • SST: 09213-70011 
        1. 09213-70020
      • SST: 09330-00021

    2. Install the transmission input damper cover assembly to the flywheel sub-assembly with the 9 bolts. Uniformly tighten the 9 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Front

      Torque: 49.4 N.m (504 kgf/cm, 36 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Make sure that there is no oil on the transmission input damper cover assembly or flywheel sub-assembly.
      • Make sure to install the transmission input damper cover assembly in the correct direction.
      • Do not allow grease to contact the splines of the transmission input damper cover assembly or the input shaft.
  4. INSTALL HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    1. for 2WD:

      Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2017 - 09/2018] , or refer to INSTALLATION [09/2018 - 10/2020] , or refer to INSTALLATION [10/2020 - 10/2023]

    2. for AWD:

      Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to INSTALLATION [10/2020 - 10/2023]
