Reassembly [10/2020 - 11/2021]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER NO. 2 REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the front bumper No. 2 reinforcement sub-assembly with the 6 nuts.

      Torque: 25 N.m (255 kgf/cm, 18 ft.lbf) 

  2. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the positions of the guide on the vehicle and front bumper reinforcement sub-assembly, and set it as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the front bumper reinforcement sub-assembly with the 8 bolts.

      Torque: 38 N.m (387 kgf/cm, 28 ft.lbf) 

  3. INSTALL HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2020 - 10/2023]

  4. INSTALL HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  5. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER SIDE RETAINER LH 
    1. Attach the clip to install the front bumper side retainer LH as shown in the illustration.

  6. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER SIDE RETAINER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  7. INSTALL LOWER ARM BRACKET BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the lower arm bracket brace sub-assembly LH with the 2 bolts.

  8. INSTALL LOWER ARM BRACKET BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Install the lower arm bracket brace sub-assembly RH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf)

  9. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER NO. 2 ENERGY ABSORBER 
    1. Install the front bumper No. 2 energy absorber with the bolt.

      Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf/cm, 66 in.lbf) 

  10. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the power switch off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Attach the guide and claw to install the front bumper energy absorber sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf/cm, 66 in.lbf) 

    5. Connect the 2 connectors of the pedestrian detection chamber assembly.
      NOTE:

      When connecting any pedestrian detection chamber assembly connector, take care not to damage the pedestrian detection chamber assembly wire harness.

      1. Before connecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

      2. While holding the CPA be sure to engage the connectors until they are locked and check that the CPA is in its original position (when locking, make sure that a click sound can be heard).

  11. INSTALL LOWER RADIATOR GRILLE MOULDING 
    1. Attach the clip to install the lower radiator grille moulding as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the screw.
  12. INSTALL UPPER RADIATOR SEAL 

    HINT: 

    When installing the upper radiator seal, heat the radiator grille moulding.

    Standard

    • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts.
    • Touching the heat light may result in burns.

    1. Clean the radiator grille moulding surface.
      1. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the radiator grille moulding.
      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
        NOTE:
        • Installing the upper radiator seal with some double-sided tape remaining may cause poor adhesion. Perform this procedure until sufficiently removed it.
        • Make sure to use a cloth when removing. Using a screwdriver, etc., may cause damage and poor adhesion.
    2. Apply primer to radiator grille moulding on the installation area of the upper radiator seal using a brush or felt.

      Primer - -
      NOTE:
      • Replace the brush or felt if it is dirty or has become hardened.
      • Keep any painted surface free from primer.
      • If the primer contacts a painted surface, it may leave light primer marks. Therefore, use protective tape when using liquid primer.
      • Do not touch surfaces to which primer has been applied until the upper radiator seal has been attached.
    3. Let the primer dry sufficiently.
      NOTE:

      Do not touch applied surfaces until the primer is dry.

      Recommended drying time

      10 minutes or more (at 23°C (73°F))

    4. Remove the peeling paper of the new upper radiator seal trying not to touch the adhesional surface.
    5. Install the upper radiator seal as shown in the illustration.

  21. REPAIR INSTRUCTION 
    1. Clean the front bumper cover surface.
      1. using a heat light, heat the front bumper cover surface.
        NOTE:
        • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts.
        • Touching the heat light may result in burns.
        • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.
      2. wipe off any tape adhesive with cleaner.
    2. Installation temperature.
      1. When the ambient temperature is below 15°C (59°F), perform the installation procedure after warming the front bumper cover surface (installation surface of the front bumper cover) and tape to between 20 and 30°C (68 and 86°F) using a heat light.

        When the ambient temperature is higher than 35°C (95°F), cool the front bumper cover surface (installation surface of the front bumper cover) and tape to between 20 and 30°C (68 and 86°F) prior to installation.

        HINT: 

        • The most appropriate temperature for installing the tape is 25°C (77°F).
        • When the temperature is low, the tape turns stiff and falls off easily. When the temperature is high, the tape loses elasticity.
    3. Before installation.
      1. Make sure any dirt on and around the front bumper cover surface where the tape will be installed (installation surface of the front bumper cover) is removed, and that the surface is smooth. If the surface is rough or dirt remains when pressing the tape onto the surface, air will be trapped under the tape and result in a poor appearance.

        HINT: 

        Spray water on the shop floor to settle any dust.

    4. Key points for handling the tape.
      1. The tape bends and rolls up easily. Store the tape between flat pieces of cardboard or other similar objects and keep it dry and level.
        NOTE:

        Do not bend the tape or leave it in a place with a high temperature.

    5. Key points for the installation of the tape (how to use a squeegee and the installation procedure for a flat surface).
      NOTE:
      • Position the tape with a high level of accuracy to achieve a neat finish and to avoid peeling.
      • The tape cannot be reused because it deforms and will not fit after removal.
      1. To avoid air bubbles, slightly raise the part of the tape that is going to be applied so that its adhesive surface does not touch the front bumper cover while applying the tape. Tilt the squeegee 40 to 50° (for pressing forward) or 30 to 45° (for pulling) from the front bumper cover surface and press with a force of 20 to 30 N (2 to 3 kgf. 1.45 to 6.71 lbf.) while moving the squeegee at a constant slow speed of 30 to 70 mm (1.18 to 2.76 in.) per second.

        NOTE:

        Be sure to observe the specified pressing speed, force and angle of the squeegee to avoid wrinkles and air bubbles.

        HINT: 

        • Either angle of the squeegee (for pressing forward or for pulling) is acceptable.
        • Be sure to apply the tape while removing the release paper 10 to 20 mm (0.39 to 0.79 in.) from the edge of the squeegee.

      1. If it is difficult to press the tape, press it in several steps as shown in the illustration. Use your fingers or the padded surface of a squeegee to slowly apply the tape to the hem of the vehicle, especially for a small hem.

        HINT: 

        When applying tape to the backside of a hem, remove the release paper and use your fingers or the padded surface of a squeegee.

    7. Key points for the installation of the tape (how to use a squeegee and the installation procedure for corners).
      1. Remove the release paper and apply the tape carefully with your fingers.
      2. Before applying the tape to each corner, heat the tape using a heat light and gradually apply it to avoid wrinkles in the tape and achieve a neat finish.
    8. Check after installation.
      1. After completing the application, check if the tape is applied neatly. If the tape is not applied neatly, apply new tape.
        NOTE:

        Do not reuse the tape.

  22. INSTALL NO. 1 MOULDING TAPE 

    HINT: 

    • When installing the No. 1 moulding tape, heat the front bumper cover.
    • Use the same procedure for the other side.

  23. INSTALL RADIATOR GRILLE SEAL (w/o Advanced Drive) 

    HINT: 

    When installing the radiator grille seal, heat the radiator grille assembly.

    When installing the radiator grille protector, heat the front bumper cover.

    • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts.
    • Touching the heat light may result in burns.
    • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

    1. Clean the front bumper cover surface.
      1. Remove the double-sided tape from the front bumper cover.
      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
        NOTE:
        • Installing the front bumper cover with some double-sided tape remaining may cause poor adhesion. Perform this procedure until sufficiently removed it.
        • Make sure to use a cloth when removing. Using a screwdriver, etc., may cause damage and poor adhesion.
    2. Apply primer to front bumper cover on the installation area of the radiator grille protector using a brush or felt.
      NOTE:
      • Replace the brush or felt if it is dirty or has become hardened.
      • Keep any painted surface free from primer.
      • If the primer contacts a painted surface, it may leave light primer marks. Therefore, use protective tape when using liquid primer.
      • Do not touch surfaces to which primer has been applied until the radiator grille protector has been attached.
    3. Let the primer dry sufficiently.
      NOTE:

      Do not touch applied surfaces until the primer is dry.

      Recommended drying time

      10 minutes or more (at 23°C (73°F))

    4. Remove the peeling paper on the center of a new radiator grill protector while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface and attach the clip and install the radiator grill protector.

      Press the radiator grille protector firmly to install it.

    5. Attach the clip.

      HINT: 

      Use the same procedure for the other side.

    6. Remove the peeling paper on the edge of the radiator grill protector while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface and attach the guide and install the radiator grill protector.
